**Payroll Administrator (6 month contract) (Hybrid and remote options available)**

**Job Description**:
As a member of our Finance and Accounting team, your responsibilities will include:

- Maintaining payroll information. This includes collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system, reconciling pension, benefits, donations and other payroll related remittances, and ensuring timely payment of amounts due.
- Preparing all salary related journal entries for entry into the general ledger. Updates payroll records in the payroll system including entering changes in salaries, exemptions, department/division transfers, and other payroll deductions.
- Maintaining knowledge of current payroll legislation. Follows policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations, reporting needed changes as required.
- Liaising with the Human Resources department and payroll provider to resolve complex payroll issues
- On a monthly basis reconciling all payroll general ledger accounts and preparing variance analysis for payroll and benefit expenses. Preparing monthly cost share journal entries and monthly reconciliations.
- Assisting Accountants with the preparation of salary budget information to support the budget process.
- Completing year-end audit schedules for various payroll general ledger accounts

**Qualifications**:

- Grade twelve secondary school education.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in payroll.
- Completion of Canadian Payroll Association certification program (Payroll Compliance Practitioner is preferred).
- Knowledge of HRIS software and accounting packages such as Great Plains Dynamics.
- Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to collect, compare and analyze all information and figures in great detail, while using creative and strategic approaches to solve complex problems and concepts.
