Reporting to the Manager, Transit Infrastructure Projects, the Project Lead will provide support to the Senior Project Managers as well as work independently to manage the transportation related activities and assignments for the GO Expansion and SmartTrack transit projects. The Project Lead will attend project meetings, review project design submissions, monitor project deadlines etc. The Project Lead will support the Metrolinx transit projects by providing project management and technical expertise into addressing complex transportation related issues. The Project Lead will help to build and maintain effective working relationships with Metrolinx, contractors, consultants, city divisions and government authorities associated with the projects.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements.
- Manages assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork, communication and high standards of work quality to advance the Division's initiatives in a complex municipal environment.
- Conducts technical problem investigations, performs site visits and inspections, participates in conducting studies and commenting on technical reports (including drawings and specifications), and provides detailed recommendations and advice that is in alignment with peer city best practices, industry guidelines, and applicable regulations.
- Monitors projects to ensure completion in accordance with approved plans and agreements of undertaking.
- Prepares project plans, reports and status updates for the Manager and other senior staff.
- Reviews, produces and comments on draft materials. Negotiates and coordinates with both internal and external stakeholders on and outside of project technical advisory committees.
- Researches and reports on a range of new projects and initiatives.
- Coordinates input into the Capital Works Program and operating budget.
- Fosters and maintains effective working relationships and networking with inter-divisional departments, government agencies, elected officials, and consultants though consultation, resolution of conflicts, participation in public meetings etc.
- Keeps up-to-date on relevant research and coordinates with relevant divisional staff on project-related data and analysis.
- Represents the division, as required, at meetings and at project-related community consultations.
- Ensures compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other related provincial regulations and corporate and divisional safety standards and procedures.

**Key Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in planning, civil engineering, project management, or a discipline pertinent to the job function or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience working on complex multidisciplinary projects in Transportation Planning or Engineering, Infrastructure Planning or Design.
- Experience leading project teams and developing collaborative internal and external business relationships.
- Considerable experience in at least of the following areas: Review and design of transit infrastructure, planning and/or design of road/pavement, pedestrian and cycling facilities, traffic engineering, road safety, transportation infrastructure management and/or municipal construction projects.
- Ability to effectively represent the Division and to maintain relations and work with community and elected officials, internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills when dealing with, preparing reports, presentations, etc.
- Knowledge of various legislation related to the field, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Ability to effectively delegate tasks and provide work direction to staff.
- General knowledge and understanding of City's technical standards, policies and practices related to permitted road activities.
- Ability to effectively deal with the public in dispute management or conflict resolution situations.
- Proficient in the use of a variety of software; i.e. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and mainframe systems such as RACS, TMMS, TOINview, GIS, etc.
- Ability to organize, prepare and carry out tasks to meet deadlines.
