Reporting to the Accounting Director, the Accounting Manager - Canada will be accountable for timely, reliable and accurate financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. This role will be responsible for leading and developing a team of General Accounting professionals while encouraging process improvement and innovation. The Manager will also play an integral role in preparing for future growth of the organization.

THE ROLE:

- Lead, assign and assess the work of Canada accounting team ensuring that the quality of work meets and exceeds established standards while providing feedback for continuous improvement;
- Assist the accounting team in the preparation and review of monthly journal entries;
- Management of leases for accounting purposes under IFRS 16;
- Evaluate and analyse monthly inventory valuation;
- Ensure system integrity in monthly activity;
- Establish and strengthen cross-functional;
- Ensure service level commitments to internal customers are met;
- Prepare quarterly consolidation and country-wide reporting package;
- Oversight of tax planning, compliance and filing;
- Reconcile inter-company balances involving foreign currency transactions;
- Review monthly financial statements and account reconciliations;
- Lead quarterly reviews and year end audits in partnership with external auditors;
- Prepare regular correspondence and reports to keep the managers and executive staff updated;
- Ensure compliance with accounting and business policies.
- Highly skilled financial leader with a proven track record of strong performance and measurable results;
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance;
- Leadership skills, written and verbal communication skills
- Previous success in leadership, coaching and/or supervising roles;
- Bilingual French and English;
- Ability to manage priorities and strong commitment to meet deadlines;
- Collaborative leader with ability to form interdepartmental relationships;
- Ability to learn and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills, critical thinking and project planning skills;
- Ability to embrace change, identify areas of improvement and develop best practices;
- Experience in manufacturing and/or food industry processing a plus;
- Tax filing and compliance experience a plus;
- CPA membership (or equivalent, an asset).
