**Position Summary**
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Assurance Specialist will primarily be responsible for document and program management including but not limited to reviewing and updating relevant documents, assisting with creating and updating Quality programs and protocols and assisting with internal audits to ensure compliance.
**Job Duties**
- Assist in reviewing, updating, and maintaining the company’s GFSI compliant Quality Management System.
- Review and update quality management documents, identify gaps in the current documentation, and work towards closing those gaps either independently or with the involvement of the NMF team.
- Create and update programs and materials such as training, food safety, quality, and testing. Prepare documents, protocols, work instructions etc. as required.
- Assist the quality team in monthly internal auditing of GMPs, sanitation and facility inspections and ensure that each department is up to date on the completion and submission of documentation and records.
- Maintain and review pest control records and equipment calibration schedules and records.
- Enter and evaluate results for product testing, environmental monitoring, utility monitoring and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Assist and support the Quality Assurance Supervisor/Manager and the Vice President of Quality and Innovation with documentation, quality records and various tasks related to the Quality Management System. Work collaboratively with the HACCP, Training Documentation Coordinator to support this role.
- Play a key role in developing and establishing a GFSI compliant Quality Management System for a large second manufacturing site.
- Support Regulatory roles within the company as needed.
- Work closely and communicate with department heads, managers, and supervisors to assist with the completion and submission of records in a timely manner.
- Prepare and assist as needed for the achievement and maintenance of key certifications and licenses such as BRC, Kosher, SFCR, etc.
- Follow all Food Safety, HACCP, Quality and Operational procedures (SOPs) as defined in NMF’s Quality Management System.
- Use relevant software to enter data, compile reports and update documentation as required.
- Other projects and related duties as required.
**Qualifications & Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in food technology, food science, or equivalent.
- Combination of education, work experience and relevant training considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control within food manufacturing or related industry.
- Experienced in program development and maintenance as it relates to Quality.
- Previous experience in document management and file auditing required.
- Prior experience with internal/external audits considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office suite required (MS Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professionalism and composure in varying circumstances.
- Effective communication skills and ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- High attention to detail and meticulous.
- Adaptable, resourceful and a willingness to learn.
**Working Conditions**
This is a Monday to Friday schedule with hours aligned to the core working hours of the business. Overtime, weekends and statutory holiday work may be required.
Some travel requirements required (0-5%).
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
