London Health Sciences Centre is a large academic hospital providing care for patients living across southwestern Ontario. With a population catchment area of 1.5M residents, the London Regional Cancer Program (a clinical program of London Health Sciences Centre) provides a full spectrum of cancer care services including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, supportive care and patient education, as well as inpatient oncology services.

The purpose of the Physician Assistant is to act as an extension of the Physician. In this role the incumbent acts in a similar capacity to a Medical Resident. This position is responsible for the total care, health, and well being of a patient after the relationship with the supervising physician has been established - in this role all parties involved in the care plan would look to the physician assistant as the representative of physician for the patient. The Physician Assistant role will be focused in Inpatient care: obtaining patient health history, conducting physical examinations; supporting investigations and diagnosis, formulating treatment plans in consultation with the Physician, providing patient education and teaching, and participating in administrative aspects of the program as needed.

Temporary Full-Time

Rate of Pay: $40.27 - $50.34 per hour

Duration: Until December 2023

Hours per Week: 37.5 hours

**Qualifications**:

- Four (4) year Undergraduate Degree in Health Sciences (Physician Assistant) and completion of 2 year Physician Assistant program
- Current through the Physician Assistant’s Certification Council (PACC)
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for which you can provide proof upon request
- ATLS certification preferred
- Advanced ability to perform in stressful and critical/emergency situations
- Advanced flexibility and ability to adapt to change
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making skills, and analytical and conceptual skills
- Advanced organizational skills
- Advanced communication skills (both verbal and written) and facilitation/presentation skills
- Ability to use Microsoft and Windows based technologies
- Demonstrated ability to provide principals of patient family centred care
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
