We are seeking an accomplished individual with Payroll experience to assist with the payroll and benefit activities for 400+ employees.
- Completion of Post-secondary education in Business Administration, HR, Accounting or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to three years recent payroll/benefits administration experience in a fast-paced, unionized environment is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Payroll/HRIS (e.g. ADP Workforce Now), Scheduling systems, and MS Office (advanced Excel and Word).
- Solid knowledge of employment legislation and benefit administration best practices
- Critical thinking and analytical skills to resolve problems in a time-sensitive manner.
- Excellent English language oral and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
- Effective organizational and planning skills.
- Effective attention to detail, strong math skills, and a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to respond appropriately in high pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanour.

**The key responsibilities of this position are**:

- Assist with primary review and validation of all payroll processing data for all staff transacted through the scheduling, time and attendance, payroll and HRIS systems.
- Assist with audits and reconciliations of payroll processes and information to ensure timeliness and accuracy, and consistency between payroll and time and attendance systems.
- Assist with preparation and review of all banking, financial, statistical and remittance reports, journals, submissions, manual cheque requisitions, bank transfers, uploads and/or downloads to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
- Process payroll changes including addresses, wage and salary increases, transfers, etc.
- Perform benefit administration processes for new hires, terminations and changes of status/coverage.
- Communicate with employees regarding LOA requirements, benefit coverage payments, payroll errors, etc.
- Prepare a variety of HRIS reports to support PaC operations and decision making, i.e. turnover, seniority, attendance, etc.
- Perform accurate calculations related to sick bank bonus, revised wage schedules, retroactive wage increases, etc.
