**What You Will Do**:
- Schedules and coordinates the work of cooks and other kitchen employees to ensure that food preparation is economical and technically correct and within budgeted labor cost goals.
- Work with Hospitality Manger to develops standard recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation which help to ensure consistently high quality and to minimize food costs; exercises portion control for all items served and assists in establishing menu selling prices.
- Safeguards all food preparation employees by implementing training to increase their knowledge about safety, sanitation and accident prevention principles.
- Consults with the Events and Front of House Manager about food production aspects of special events planning.
- Ensures proper staffing for maximum productivity and high standards of quality; controls food and payroll costs to achieve maximum profitability.
- Evaluates food products to ensure that quality standards are consistently attained.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures to enhance and measure quality; continually updates written policies and procedures to reflect techniques, equipment and terminology.
- Provides training and professional development opportunities for all kitchen staff.
- Establishes and maintains a regular cleaning and maintenance schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment.
- Approves the requisition of products and other necessary food supplies.
- Provide access to good nutritious food and knowledge to foster improved health and wellbeing through an ever changing menu.
- Ensures that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness and safety are maintained throughout the kitchen, serving areas and cafe at all times.
- Assist with the hiring of kitchen personnel and maintain staffing levels and scheduling.
- Facilitate classroom and hands on teaching of culinary and healthy cooking skills.
- Maintains a visible public presence by participating in public relations programs and events.
- Direct all kitchen staff through preparation and menu execution.
- Assist in the development of food and labour budgets and managing the business to budget.
