Located at the head of Lake Ontario and within the municipalities of Burlington and Hamilton, Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) is the largest botanical garden in Canada and one of the nation’s earliest nature sanctuaries. Comprising some 2700 acres of protected wetlands, botanical collections, parkland and display gardens, and within easy access of millions of nature-starved urban citizens, RBG dedicates its expertise in horticulture, conservation, science and education to connect people, plants and place for the purpose of nurturing and preserving healthy growing life on our planet. RBG directs its efforts, and seeks the support of individuals and organizations, to realize its vision of a world in which everyone is awake to the beauty, diversity and necessity of plants, and from that consciousness more actively works together to protect and preserve plant species and habitats and, by extension, our planet.

We are seeking 2 highly motivated sales professionals to join our growing team. These are contract roles, commencing March 1, 2023 and ending February 29, 2024, with the possibility of an extension.

**Duties**
- Manages inventory to achieve rental targets and maximize catering revenue.
- Works with clients to determine needs and supports execution of the event including menu selection, room arrangements and recommending other services provided by RBG or one of the preferred partners.
- Provides quotes and negotiates pricing, creates contracts and prepares invoices for services.
- Collaborates with other departments (catering, horticulture, operations, etc.) and service providers to ensure all aspects of the event are shared and any changes are communicated to the appropriate individuals and/or teams.
- Manages the planning and execution of the events to fulfill the deliverables outlined in the contract.
- Identifies potential issues and works proactively with other team members to identify and implement solutions.
- Responds to and handles client problems and/or complaints by staying available to resolve issues including providing alternative options.

**Qualifications**
- Proven understanding and knowledge of trends related to corporate, social and group sales, preferably within the hospitality sector.
- Knowledge of planning processes and techniques that allow for cross organizational collaboration to support the execution of client events.
- Well developed sales, fulfillment and contract management skills to ensure client needs/expectations are met and exceeded.
- Interpersonal and relationship building skills to promote and generate interest in RBG as a venue for corporate, social and group events.
- Superior organizational skills to manage tight timelines and conflicting priorities.
- Conflict resolution and issues management skills to anticipate issues, develop risk mitigation strategies and resolve issues to the satisfaction of RBG and clients.
- Problem-solving and prioritization skills to resolve issues, including operational, logístical and client concerns.

**Working Conditions**
- Position is required to work both indoors and outdoors. Ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to engage in the gardens to provide site tours to potential clients is required.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.
- Travel may be required from time to time.
