Dispatch Coordinator

Alpha Building Supply is a leading supplier of building materials in the Barrie area, and we are currently seeking a Dispatch Coordinator to join our team. The Dispatch Coordinator is a vital member of the warehouse team responsible for managing the movement of building materials within the facility. This role involves accurately shipping out products to customers and receiving incoming shipments from suppliers. The Warehouse Logistics Coordinator must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities are as following:
**Dispatch Operations**:
- Receive and process orders from construction sites, contractors, or internal teams for building materials and supplies.
- Coordinate and schedule the dispatch of shipments, considering project timelines, site accessibility, and material availability.
- Allocate appropriate vehicles and drivers based on load size, delivery requirements, and vehicle capacity.
- Communicate with purchasing regarding inbound pick ups and deliveries
**Shipping Operations**:
- Prepare orders for shipment by picking, packing, and labeling products according to customer requirements and company standards.
- Verify product quality, quantity, and accuracy before packaging.
- Generate shipping labels, packing lists, and other necessary documentation.
**Receiving Operations**:
- Receive incoming shipments by unloading, inspecting, and recording the received items.
- Check shipments for accuracy, completeness, and any visible damage.
- Update inventory systems with received quantities and product details.
**Inventory Management**:
- Organize and maintain the warehouse inventory to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of products.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical inventory and system records.
- Assist in stock rotation to prevent aging inventory and ensure product freshness.
**Problem Solving and Exception Handling**:
- Address and resolve any issues that may arise during deliveries, such as incorrect addresses, site access challenges, or material discrepancies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to find solutions and minimize disruptions to construction projects.
**Quality Control**:
- Inspect products for defects, damage, or discrepancies during both shipping and receiving processes.
- Notify the appropriate parties about any quality issues and follow established protocols for disposition.
- Safety and Compliance:Adhere to all safety guidelines, protocols, and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
Handle products and equipment with care to prevent accidents and maintain product integrity.
**Communication**:
- Collaborate with other warehouse team members to ensure smooth coordination of shipping and receiving activities.
- Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to resolve shipment discrepancies and delivery issues.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or issues.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Full Driver's Licence is an assent and Forklift Certification
- Proven experience in dispatch operations, logistics coordination, or a similar role, preferably within the construction or building supply industry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with drivers, contractors, and internal teams.
- Familiarity with construction materials, terminology, and site logistics.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety compliance specific to the construction industry.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, project requirements, and delivery schedules.
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and manage time effectively.
The Dispatch Coordinator is a pivotal role that ensures the timely delivery of essential building materials to construction sites, contributing to the successful execution of construction projects and the overall growth of the company's reputation within the industry.
**Salary**: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
