**Position**

Reporting to the Advisor, Office of Safe Disclosure & Human Rights, the Disclosure Advisor will be responsible for helping fulfil the mandate of the Office of Safe Disclosure & Human Rights (OSDHR).

This position will receive disclosures regarding discrimination, harassment, accommodations, safety violations, research misconduct, ethical concerns, financial mismanagement or any other possible misconduct, wrongdoing or breach of policy/procedures. Individuals making disclosures can be any member of the university community (student, staff, faculty, Postdoctoral Fellow). It is important that the Disclosure Advisor provide a safe, neutral and confidential space to hear the disclosure. The Disclosure Advisor will determine the nature of the concerns in the disclosure and provide appropriate advice and referral services.

The Disclosure Advisor may also be responsible for coordinating issues/concerns with other stakeholders such as the Dean of Students Office, Office of Student Ombuds, Human Resources and Health Safety and Environment (HRHSE), Faculty Relations, Helping Individuals at Risk (HIAR), Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies and others.

Additionally, as needed, the Disclosure Advisor will participate in different projects, initiatives, and committees.

**Duties**

Disclosures
- Support the OSDHR Advisor in providing confidential and professional intake for disclosures brought forward by faculty, staff, students and others. The type of concerns that may be shared in a disclosure include, but are not limited to: discrimination, harassment, racism, sexual and gender-based violence, accessibility, accommodations, financial mismanagement, etc.
- Refer individuals making disclosures to appropriate resources, including the Office of the Student Ombuds, the Dean of Students, Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies, the relevant Association or Union, Human Resource Services, Faculty Relations, counselling and crisis support, and/or other relevant supports as required.
- Identify appropriate resolution and or complaint processes for individuals making disclosures; referring matters of a complex or sensitive nature to the Advisor when needed.
- Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate informal (or restorative) processes and formal complaint processes.
- Participate in the Options Navigation Network (ONN).
- Have a thorough understanding of, and act in accordance with, Discrimination, Harassment and Duty to Accommodate policy, Sexual and Gender Based Violence policy, Conflict of Interest and Conflict of Commitment policy, disciplinary processes at the University of Alberta (Student Conduct Policy, Post-Doctoral Fellows Policy, AASUA and NASA collective agreements), the Helping Individuals At Risk Policy and Procedures, Alberta Human Rights Act, Occupational, Health and Safety (OHS) Act, and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act, and any relevant policies and procedures as developed in the future.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records in the OSDHR database as per the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act.

Advice and Consultations
- Provide advice to individuals seeking information regarding various policies or procedures.
- Refer individuals to the appropriate office of administrative responsibility for policy questions that fall outside of OSDHR’s scope.
