Day Camp Directors provide on-site leadership and support to all campers and staff at one assigned camp location. They will also assist in the hiring of their own camp staff teams. The Camp Director is responsible for the successful day to day operations of the day camp and ensures that all staff and campers have a positive experience leading to personal growth and leadership opportunities.
**In this role, you will**:
- Assist Camp Coordinators and Regional Directors in the hiring process for camp staff; interviewing and hiring documentation completed in timely manner
- Provide on-site leadership and supervision to camp staff through training, coaching, monitoring performance and supporting staff to meet expectations of their roles
- Coordinate daily operations of day camp program including creating and completing set up and take down checklists and designing schedules so that all camper groups participate in all the activities outlined in program manuals
- Monitor the delivery of safe, high-quality programs and making sure staff have all the supplies they require and are incorporating day camp values beads daily
- Ensure administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time including all paperwork associated with payroll, staff scheduling, camper attendance, parent communication, YMCA visa reconciling and sent to Administrative Coordinators
- Responsible for attending all staff trainings and meetings; arriving on time, and actively participating and contributing to the development of all camp staff
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures are being followed and maintained and contribute to the cleaning, safety and maintenance to camp sites
- Act as a positive role model for the campers and fellow staff through embodying the YMCA values, policies and procedures, Day Camp conditions of employment/guidelines and the Ontario Camping Association standards
**You bring**:
- Post-secondary education (or currently enrolled) preferred
- Minimum 1-year experience in a child-oriented programs; camp specific setting an asset
- Experience as a supervisor an asset
- Standard First Aid and CPR ‘C’ certificate valid until the last day of contract
- Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with families, staff and volunteers
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a group of children
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
