The Clinical Operations Lead Houses of Providence is accountable for overseeing nursing functions. They will work closely with the interdisciplinary team; they will assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of resident care.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Directing, supervising and monitoring the work performance of the regulated and unregulated nursing staff to ensure that resident care duties are completed in keeping with: relevant Providence Healthcare policies and procedures; established staff routines; the directions and interventions identified in the residents’ plans of care; and, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care resident care standards for long-term care homes
- Maintain integrity of various nursing initiatives, coordinate available resources, plan and assist with training of new staff
- Overseeing the Registered Nurses effectiveness for sufficient coverage of staff
- Participates with Nursing Recruitment (Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurse, Resident Assistants, Administration Assistants, Staffing Clerk)
- Support with the orientation of new Nursing Staff, Nursing Staff Transfers, and Students
- Oversees Nursing Staff on the unit including making regular rounds to ensure compliance with standards established by the Houses of Providence, the Health Disciplines Act, and all other pertinent legislation.
- Provide emotional and professional support to staff which includes providing positive feedback, as well as coach staff for improving performance
- Administers the collective agreement for employees, to whom it applies, including participating in the grievance resolution procedure
- Provides input and makes recommendation to the Resident Care Manager regarding the performance of staff for performance evaluations
- Participates in the development, implementation and revision of policies, procedures, and programs related to safety, infection control, quality of resident care, MOHLTC, etc.
- Promote collaborative relationships with internal and external partners
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and other clinical services to ensure that residents receive the required care
- Maintain and ensures confidentiality of all resident and staff records and information
- Keep resident documentation up-to-date, and reviews staff documentation on residents. Instructs staff in appropriate methods of documentation.
- Use the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation
- Actively involved in the Continuous Quality Improvement Process, through the collection, evaluating and processing of data, as well as addressing the identified deficiencies to ensure standards/regulations are met

**QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED**:

- Registered member of a related regulated health profession, in current good standing with their respective professional College
- Relevant undergraduate degree completed or in progress with Master’s preferred
- Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support
- 3 years recent clinical practice with demonstrated expertise in gerontology
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset
- Long-term care experience is preferred
- Strong documentation skills
- Self-starter, flexible, adaptable, creative, and results-oriented individual
- Team player, work collaboratively with others
- Ability to articulate and demonstrate resident safety strategies
- Ability to empower staff in a diverse, multicultural health care environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with staff, residents, families and significant others as appropriate
