Workforce Development Coach

Assist program Facilitators in setting up program facilities, ordering resources, and preparing program materials
- Assist the Manager by providing program outreach/marketing and recruit, screen, and select applicants for the program
- Provide assistance/back up as needed to the Facilitator during pre-employment program delivery
- Along with the program Facilitator, provide individual coaching/counselling regarding action planning with in-depth case management, including detailed notes and entry into a database
- Assist clients with building a portfolio that highlights their employability
- Provide mentorship to clients with the clear express purpose of coaching them for the Canadian workplace
- Support individuals for disclosure of disabilities that may affect employment participation
- Provide support to client in assessing their qualifications against job requirements
- Act as liaison between participants and employer partners to facilitate participants’ transition to employment opportunities
- Provide ongoing sites visits to participants and employer partners and engage in further support services and problem solving as needed
- Assist with administrative tasks such as tracking and submitting attendance
- Provide supported referral and access to other services including settlement resources and job search supports
- Conduct client follow-up activities
- Collect and analyze statistics and program evaluation data and draft monthly/quarterly reports for review by the Manager
- Other related duties as assigned
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, social services, or related area
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with newcomers in an employment-related field
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in some or all aspects of job search, job coaching, mentoring, and case management
- Ability to learn new technology and government database management system
- Demonstrated knowledge of LMI, job search and recruitment and community resources
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups, particularly racialized newcomer women
- Demonstrated understanding of community resources, programs and services and job search supports
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Goal oriented highly organized and flexible and adaptable: with superior time management skills
- Demonstrated use of computer technology including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), various web browsers, Internet networks, on-line employment tools and Web 2.0.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends or split shifts as necessary
- Access to vehicle for on-site employer visits and client monitoring
The Milestones to Employment Program assists and supports visible minority newcomer women to transition to the Canadian Labour Market with an ultimate goal of employment retention and advancement. This research pilot project takes a demand led approach in preparing visible minority newcomer women for jobs in two high growth industries with a focus on long term sustainable employment.
