Under the direction of the Manager, Compensation the Specialist Compensation develops, implements and maintains data bases and management systems specific to Compensation & Benefits. These are coordinated to ensure that audits are conducted and data integrity is maintained in the official data bases at Canada Post (e.g. SAP - HRIS, AccessHR/Ceridian, G/L Disbursements, etc.). The officer also ensures that new or amended provisions of collective agreements and Management and Exempt compensation programs are implemented a timely and accurate fashion by programming and implementing automated processes and procedures.

**Responsibilities**:
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Specialist, Compensation.
- Provides ongoing support, assistance and advice to the Total Compensation Management Team and, as required, to other areas at Head Office and the Regions HR groups. Produces analyses of proposed changes, outlining costs, effects, and impact present and future, using current actual data from applicable CPC data sources. Recommends amendments based on impact on function, area, bargaining unit, or other applicable work group.
- Responsible for many aspects of annual implementation and improvement of the Compensation Program for Management and unionized staff, including salary increases and incentives with prioritization on the annual PPAY and salary progression programs. This involves operation of working data bases using SAP-HRIS and pay data, relational database programs, cross verification of entitlements and eligibility, verifying and testing all calculations, pro-rating of payments, tracking special cases, final calculation & budget compliance, transmitting data to AccessHR Operations (Executive & Management) and data files uploaded into HRIS.
- Develops and implements regular audits of direct compensation including salary, allowances, premiums, and incentives received by employees in all bargaining units and at all levels of management. Prepares confidential audit reports with recommendations to amend processes or procedures and resolution of anomalies.
- Develops, and implements compensation elements of new collective agreements, providing a single interim source of data combining elements contained in other files and data bases. e.g. New job evaluation plan with evaluations in PC files, employee and position data in SAP-HRIS, and pay data in AccessHR. Ensures data integrity in preparation of automated data conversion into SAP-HRIS and Ceridian. May represent Compensation & Benefits on ad hoc committees providing functional expertise to Labour Relations, AccessHR, Job Evaluation, and/or other groups as required across the organization.

- Documents and reviews Compensation & Benefits processes for communication, distribution, and education of key stakeholders as required by the Manager, Compensation & Benefits.
- Archives history files documenting processes, procedures and programming used in conversions or calculations.
- Prepares Canada Post data for compensation surveys conducted by consultants and/or compensation associations as required and provides preliminary analysis of survey results.
- Assists in ad hoc surveys of management & unionized compensation.
- Provides technical support to the managers and others in the group as required.

**Qualifications**:
Education
- Completed post-secondary, preferably in a related field OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training

Experience
- 1 to 3 years of relevant functional experience
- One or more years of experience in a unionized environment an asset
- Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs, in particular advanced Excel skills.
- Enrollment in specific designation and or certifications programs may be required for certain positions (e.g. Finance & Engineering).
- Strong communication, analytical, and customer service skills
