**Supervised by**:Senior AP Coordinator
**Salary range: $62,000 to $67, 000**

**Background**:
This position requires payroll processing experience, intermediate-level accounting skills, including experience in full accounting cycles over multiple years and comfort with making adjusting entries in ledgers. We process high volumes of invoices, expense claims, and payments, reconciling credit cards, and handling First Nations taxation. This position will also be responsible for handling confidential information including employment contracts, General Service Agreements, group benefits, and WCB.
**Job Duties**:
**Accounts Payables (A/P) Support (90%)**:
- Coordinate the bi-weekly payroll transactions and maintain payroll records;
- Verify hours for payroll and follow-up with staff regarding time entry and expense claims,
provide training when required;
- Assist with preparation of T4 and Record of Employment (ROE), as needed;
- Coordinate the source deduction remittance and associated reporting;
- Process project expenses and hours; liase with PMs, employees, and external agencies
to ensure all transactions, approvals, and payments are completed and accurately
recorded in a timely and efficient manner;
- Reconcile expenses and per diems for employees, contractors, and vendors for both
billable and non-billable work based on internal policies and procedures;
- Process payments of honoraria for workshop participants by closely working with Project
Managers;
- Process multiple payment methods including but not limited to direct deposit, wire
transfer, e-transfer, and cheques in CAD and USD;
- Assist with company credit card coordination including but not limited to set-up, editing
or canceling credit cards, and monthly credit card reconciliations;
- Assist with monthly payroll remittance, GST filing and annual corporate filing. Assist with
other tax filing as needed (US State tax, non-resident withholding tax, etc.);
- Review and reconcile posted transactions and general ledger accounts;
- Set up and manage employee and contractor files with data management tools
(currently Google Suite, ShareFile, etc.) and manage copies of contracts, bills, receipts,
and supporting documents digitally and physically based on internal policies and
protocol.
**Other Support (10%)**:
- Provide support to senior staff in preparation of the quarterly and year-end closing
process, audits, finance reporting, and other finance projects;
- Make enquiries to CRA, QuickBooks, BambooHR, and Harvest as needed;
Liaise with financial institutions and professional services (bank, Visa, accountant,
bookkeeper, consultants);
- Assist with special projects as requested by CFO, CRO, HR Manager, Ops Manager,
etc., and partner with other operations team members (HR, office coordinator and
administrators, IT, communications);
- Provide training to staff on expenses as required;
**Qualifications**:
- Knowledge of First Nation taxation and working with Indigenous communities
- Experience processing payroll; National Payroll Institute certification preferred
- Degree or diploma in accounting required; education in accounting, finance, and/or
business management combined with 3-4 years of experience in related fields
considered;
- Experience with year-end and audit processes.

- Intermediate-level accounting skills (e.g., experience with adjusting ledger entries and
full accounting cycles over multiple years);

initiative, and a positive attitude;
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders in different locations via
multiple communication tools;
- Competency with MS suite, accounting software (QuickBooks or Simply Accounting
preferred), and willingness to learn new tools;
- Intermediate-level Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, VLookup, etc.)
- Ability to work from home with provided tools as well as to commute and work at an
office in Edmonton, Vancouver or Victoria as required.
