Manager, Ontario Inuit Cancer Program (Maternity Coverage)

It is the mission of Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) to provide Inuit-specific programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Inuit, and to encourage and support similar programs for Inuit across the country. The Manager, Ontario Inuit Cancer Program works in partnership with Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) to facilitate the timely and accurate execution of Tungasuvvingat Inuit’s (TI) project work plan for the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC) initiative. The incumbent manages broader strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, liaising with Regional Programs and works to facilitate systems improvements in patient experience for Inuit.

**Responsibilities**:

- Works towards addressing cancer care for urban Inuit across Ontario, educate Inuit on controllable risk factors.
- Develop training/learning sessions and create awareness materials.
- Research and work with partners to advance culturally safe care for Inuit in the Canadian healthcare system.
- Liaises with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis (FNIM) partners to understand needs and support a collaborative approach to design, development and implementation of Ontario’s Indigenous Cancer Strategies.
- Support the facilitation of meetings and engagement with the Kaggutiq Advisory Group of the program.
- Provide input, supervision and collaboration on on-going and upcoming research projects.
- Provide support to Indigenous Navigators and Regional Indigenous Cancer Leads.
- Represent TI and its program at internal / external committees, events, and initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between Ontario Health’s Indigenous Cancer Control Unit, Ontario’s Regional Cancer Programs, and other external partners on a local, provincial, and national level.
- Encourages a participatory, consultative, team-based approach to service planning and provision through ongoing interaction with staff.
- Accountable for ensuring a positive, healthy, and safe work environment.
- Focuses on providing the Coordinator with the information, training, resources, and support necessary for them to succeed in their role while following all TI policies and procedures.
- Reviews monthly financial, prepare quarterly financial and narrative reports for stakeholders and the Director, Healing and Wellness.
- Reviews potential opportunities for funding and provides relevant information to prepare submissions and proposals.
- Develops work plans and timelines for projects on an ongoing basis.
- Produces status reports with critical milestones identified. Supports the coordination of project activities and deliverables.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:
The ability to facilitate both small and large groups of diverse project stakeholders both remotely and in person is required. Ability to function effectively during situations that may become stressful; to work independently with a strong sense of focus; to coordinate meetings, events, and activities.
Completion of Undergraduate Degree in Health science, social/behavioral sciences or directly related education is required. At least three years of related experience is required in working with FNIM people and communities, FNIM community based participatory research methodologies that lead to community program development and/or enhancement as well as addressing FNIM chronic disease issues and/or cancer. One plus years’ experience is required in Management/Supervisory role, facilitation experience and community engagement as well as budget preparation. Previous experience working in and indigenous organization is an asset.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary is $76,000 annually
