Aon is looking for an Underwriting Assistant.
This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Burlington office

What the day will look like
Obtain all relevant information not included with the initial submission to ensure a thorough evaluation of the risk.
Review and evaluate renewal business and recommend appropriate actions to attain premium rate and loss ratio objectives.
Approve the coverages requested within specified underwriting authority, either as submitted or on a modified basis, or decline the risk in its entirety; refer with recommended action if risk exceeds underwriting authority.
Complete a variety of day-to-day client service transactions, including policy endorsements, certificates, binders, cancellations, or other necessary tasks as needed.
Assist with completion of carrier and claims bordereaux and other spreadsheet reports as required.
Assist underwriters in carrying out their essential duties and responsibilities to enhance the overall performance of the team through utilization of the systems and guidelines as provided.
Complete a variety of underwriting projects at the direction of the Underwriting Director.

We have strong relationships with major global carriers such as Aviva, Liberty and Lloyds. With the resources of a large corporation such as Aon, yet the flexibility of a small group, employees have the chance to learn different skill sets in quoting, binding and issuing a variety of insurance products that support the entertainment industry, with brokers across the country. They will report directly to the Underwriting Director and have a chance to expand their knowledge and expertise both internally and through onsite inspections of risks, industry events, and educational courses.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
Post-Secondary degree/diploma
Insurance background is an asset
At least 1 year of experience or attended Insurance courses
CIP/RIBO is preferred or at least working towards it
Must be technologically savvy and data-driven, including proficiency in Excel
Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development including insurance courses and certifications.
Attention to detail, refined organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;
Proven ability to prioritize competing requirements and deadlines under pressure;
