**Position Summary**:
The General Manager of the Thornbury BIA plays a pivotal leadership role, overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring the economic vitality of our community and business membership. The General Manager is responsible for the administration, development, logistics, and execution of annual and strategic plans. This includes a wide range of activities and programs such as event planning, marketing, beautification projects, and streetscapes.

Key responsibilities include managing the annual BIA budget, facilitating public consultation and participation, and maintaining strong media, public, and membership relations. The General Manager is also responsible for attending monthly board meetings, preparing the agenda alongside the Board of Directors, and taking and preparing the meeting minutes. The General Manager ensures effective communication and coordination among the BIA business membership, municipal staff, local government officials, and various tourism and community organizations.

The General Manager reports directly to the volunteer BIA Board of Directors and various sub-committees, maintaining accountability for all BIA activities and initiatives. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to foster community engagement and drive the BIA’s mission forward.

**What You Will Need**:

- Strong leadership, communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Experience with Budget Planning, Fundraising, and Community Sponsorship.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors and/or Municipality.
- Strong short
- and long-term planning and organization skills; experience with strategic planning.
- Excellent writing skills, including grant and policy writing.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Established network of contacts within the Municipality and Business community.
- Motivated self-starter with limited supervision required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel; experience with WordPress, website development, social media and graphic design.

- ** Compensation**: $20 - $25/hour based on experience, to a maximum of $30,000 annually
- ** Hours of Work**: Flexible working schedule, required to attend all meetings and events on evenings/weekends
