Turner Hospitality Group (THG) creates and operates niche restaurant brands in Thornbury, Collingwood, Blue Mountain Village and Toronto. At THG, our mission is to curate unique dining and cocktail experiences that transport guests to different times, places, cultures, and cuisines.

We are looking for an experienced **Controller** who is strong in cooperation, solid in decision making, and has the initiative to create the metrics to manage and report all accounting operations at THG.
- **Key Responsibilities**:_
- Oversees and manages all aspects of accounting. Recommends, implements, and monitors compliance with all accounting and payroll policies
- Creates and ensures timely compliance with internal processes driving financial metrics
- Plans, organizes and directs the activities of the accounting team
- Responsible for maximizing the efficiency of the accounting team by providing training, motivation, and direction
- Reviews all monthly accounting activities, i.e. bank and credit card reconciliations, HST reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc. Provides support on accounting activities, as required
- Ensures that timely and effective communication is maintained within areas of responsibility
- Responsible for preparation of all accounting ledgers, corporate reports, and other financial reports/metrics/ratios
- Facilitates process review and implements process improvements
- Evaluates the Company’s financial position and provides the senior management team with accurate and timely financial reports and analysis necessary to make strategic decisions
- Performs regular project profitability analysis on all Company projects and divisions
- Prepares and files various regulatory requirements (i.e. HST, T4’s, WSIB, etc.)
- Prepares weekly cash flow reports and manages cash flow
- Monitors payroll and all related functions
- Monitors budget on a monthly basis and recommends corrective actions as required
- Prepares detailed monthly financial statements, and conducts an analytical review, highlighting unusual increases/decreases in revenue and expenses
- Creates and reports on financial, operational and sales metrics/KPIs to monitor the health of the business
- Creates, monitors and recommends changes to improve monthly and year-to-date operating statements
- Processes all foreign exchange transactions
- Processes inter-company transactions and reconciliations
- Prepares annual budget
- Prepares year-end working papers for the external accountant
- Ability to synchronize accounting principles and practices with Company goals and objectives
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills

- Ability to oversee inventory management, purchasing and divisional cost allocations
- Ability to synchronize Point of Sale and Simply Accounting into a cohesive management and reporting structure with management KPIs and metrics; ability to measure and manage
- **Required Qualifications**:_
- Post-secondary Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
- CPA Designation required
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a senior-level accounting role at a mid-sized business is essential
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with management/cost accounting
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Simply Accounting and financial reporting tools
- Ability to pull relevant data from disparate internal systems considered an asset
- Experience and/or knowledge of the benefits of Health & Safety programs an asset
- Experience in change management an asset
- Experience in the hospitality industry an asset
