**ROLE SUMMARY: To maintain, prepare, analyze and report accurate financial statements on a timely basis in accordance with company policy/guidelines for both internal and external use. In addition, this role will manage the Accounts Receivable Function.**

**Accounts Receivable Function**:

- Ensure daily deposits are entered in the system.
- Ensure bank recs and unit counts are completed on a timely basis.
- Review the EFT file for submission.
- Ensure annual budgets are entered on a timely basis for the next fiscal year.
- Assist in the development of procedures to ensure the efficiency of the Accounts Receivable function.
- Supervise and develop the Accounting Clerk.
- Prepare and deliver the annual performance review for the Accounting Clerk.

**General Accounting Duties for a Property Portfolio**:

- Prepare bank reconciliations and monthly journal entries.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages.
- Analyze monthly operating variances.
- Reconcile accounts and prepare supporting schedules.
- Prepare cash flow projections as required.
- Assist in the preparation and review of annual budgets.
- Assist Property Managers in financial accounting matters.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma or certificate in accounting required
- 2 -3 years experience in an accounting position preferably in the Property Management field
- Excellent understanding of how to prepare financial statements, budgets and year-end reports
- CGA designation or working towards completion preferred
- YARDI knowledge is an asset
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to handle a heavy workload and meet deadlines
- Team player who is able to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the team by transfer of knowledge to more junior team members
- Ability to work well under pressure and remain detail focused
- Ability to work in a flexible hour environment, as overtime may be required in order to meet deadlines (i.e. year-end, budgets, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written skills, able to get ideas across and maintain composure in a changing environment
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities
- Excellent attitude and willingness to continuously learn and update skills in order to remain competitive and challenged
