Accounting Manager

**This Opportunity**
Our Toronto studio is searching for a highly motivated **Accounting Manager** to join our **Finance** team. Reporting to the Global Controller, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting; compliance with regulatory requirements and implementing best practice in financial management.
The **Accounting Manager** will have experience leading the full cycle accounting process, along with leadership experience in accounting and treasury. This individual will be one who is driven by success, and embraces being part of a high performance, best-in-class team. **As an Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for**:
- Lead the full cycle accounting process, organizing and ensuring timely and accurate Monthly, Quarterly and Annual financial reporting for multiple legal entities in Canada and US.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance accounting standards and regulations.
- Oversee the general ledger and chart of accounts, monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy of accounts and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain the accounting processes and records.
- Manage a team of two Accounts Payable process and Treasury function and lead the function
- Collaborate with internal auditors, external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and examinations; address audit findings and implement recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the accounting function and implement best practices and automation to streamline processes.
- Ensure government filings made in a timely manner including GST/HST, QST and Corporate Tax.
- Prepare the other government reports, i.e. Statistics Canada Survey.
- Ad hoc projects as assigned by management, providing financial expertise and analysis as needed.
**Position Requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree and CPA (CGA / CMA) or related international certification.
- 7+ years proven experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and compliance; experience in architecture and engineering industry is preferred.
- Adept in Accounting software (SAP S4Hana and BST preferred) and Advanced Excel skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset, strong problem-solving skills and able to function independently.
- Excellent initiative and issue resolution skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and on tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Armed with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working within the setting of a fully integrated global interiors, architecture, planning and landscape architecture firm.
- Ready to receive and welcome coaching from supervisors and colleagues, assimilate feedback and learn quickly from it.
