- Active member of College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
- Masters Degree - applicable to health care (preferred)
- Certificate and/or demonstrated experience in Adult Learning principles
- Five (5) years recent clinical experience relevant to Women & Children's Health
- Affiliate memberships desired
- Experience with working in an interprofessional team environment
- Good verbal and written communications skills, evidence of academic and/or proposal writing
- Excellent attendance

- Teamwork - Ability to build and direct team effort with physicians, staff and community agencies.
- Strong computer skills utilizing MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, Power Point), MS Outlook and audiovisual equipment.
- Ability to identify potential for patient or institutional risk and intervene appropriately through follow up and investigation of incident reports.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in a continuously changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to role model through the interest in the development of self and others. Identifies own learning needs and seeks opportunities to meet them.
- Demonstrated ability to support and embrace the philosophy of Service Excellence and Patient and Family Centred Care.
- Demonstrated participation in building a culture of safety and partnering with each other to improve the safety of patient care processes and systems.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)**
- Facilitates development of professional practice model throughout CKHA.
- Facilitates innovative academic development, planning, implementation, and evaluation for professional staff within the hospital and community.
- Coordinates the use of Best Practice Guidelines, incl RNAO Best Practice Guidelines (CKHA is an RNAO Best Practice Spotlight Organization)
- Accountable for determining and administering appropriate level of remediation/discipline in collaboration with Human Resources and Initiate practice issue related discussions as outlined in CKHA standardized process.
- Performs medication administration audits and chart audits for quality and patient safety
- Supervision of all staff in respect to professional practice and training to ensure the practitioner has knowledge, skill and judgment.
- Promotes the advancement of professional practice through an active role and leadership roles with Professional Advisory Council and the development of inter-professional practice initiatives.
- Develops academic (education and research) proposals for external funding and disseminates results of academic initiatives through presentations and publications.
- Provides leadership and mentorship to professional staff regarding educational activities and initiatives.
- Liaise with Colleges and Universities for clinical placement of Nursing and other professional placements and enhances academic and professional relationships with appropriate internal and external partners.
- Networks with professional organizations and specialty groups/agencies and participates actively on academic and related committees of the hospital and community.
