The Canada Games is building the fabric of Canada through the power of sport. Held once every two years, alternating between winter and summer, the Canada Games represent the highest level of national competition for the next generation of Canadian athletes. The Games have been hosted in every province at least once since their inception in Quebec City during Canada’s Centennial in 1967, and are proud of their contribution to Canada’s sport development system in addition to their lasting legacy of sport facilities, community pride, citizen engagement and national unity. As the Games move from one host community to the next, the CGC provides the continuity, leadership and support to Host Societies in key areas through CGCs transfer of knowledge program. The Canada Games Council (CGC) is also responsible for the sustainable development of the Canada Games movement and long-term partnerships with national sport organizations, Federal-Provincial/Territorial governments, the corporate sector, broadcasters and the media.

**JOB SUMMARY**

As an integral member of the CGC team, the Advisor, Corporate Services will be responsible for the oversight of CGC’s day to day business operations. Reporting to the Vice President ( V.P.), Corporate Services, and working closely with the President & CEO, the Advisor will assist in the coordination of CGC’s operational, financial, human resources and governance operations, activities and events.

**THE OPPORTUNITY**

The CGC is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and detail oriented individual to assume responsibility and provide support to operational, financial, human resource and governance operations. In addition, the individual will develop strong working relationships with CGC’s key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, CGC Committees, Federal Government (Sport Canada) and Host Societies.

At this time, the CGC will provide the opportunity to perform the role in a hybrid remote work environment (2 days a week in office), located in or around the Ottawa area. However, the CGC reserves the right to modify or withdraw the opportunity to work remotely at any time based on operational needs. Occasional domestic travel will be required, particularly around Games time, including some evenings and weekends.

This selection process may be used to staff other similar positions at the CGC.

**THE FIT**

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The key responsibilities of the Advisor include the following:
**1.** **Operational Services**
- Provide day-to-day management of office administration and operational support
- Administration and maintenance of the CGC’s Google Shared Drive system

**2.** **Governance & Corporate Services**
- Provide governance and logístical support for Board of Directors and Committee meetings
- Provide logístical support of meetings for all CGC departments, including staff meetings and other special events as required
- Coordinate all corporate travel for CGC Board, Committees, volunteers and staff, including liaising with CGC’s Corporate Travel supplier
- Provide administrative and logístical support to CGC’s Games Mission Operations

**3.** **Financial Management**
- Provide financial support to CGC’s operations, including maintenance of financial accounting records, preparation of expense reports, visa reconciliations, monthly financial statements, implementation and updates of internal financial management systems and procedures.
- Liaise with the CGC’s bookkeeper
- Liaise with the Finance & Audit Committee

**4.** **Human Resources**
- Provide human resources support to V.P., Corporate Services and Management Team
- Assist in staff recruitment, onboarding and offboarding processes

**5.** **Support to the President & CEO**
- Manage President & CEO’s calendar by effectively scheduling and prioritizing meetings as requested
- Coordinate travel and logistics
- Prepare expense reports & visa reconciliations for approval

**ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education**:

- A diploma in Office Administration, undergraduate or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Human Resources, or Sport Management. A combined equivalent of education and experience may be considered.

**Experience**:

- Two (2) or more years experience in office administration, financial, human resources and office operations
- Project coordination experience

**Knowledge & Skills**:

- Strong reading, writing and verbal communication skills in English and French
- Demonstrated attention to detail and performing work with accuracy
- Demonstrated knowledge of office management principles and procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge of finance, accounting and cost control procedures
- Experience creating presentation documents and reports
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and initiate without extensive supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build and manage relationships
