**Effective Immediately**

Reporting to the Principal of Student Achievement and Well-Being for Indigenous Education, and in collaboration with graduation coaches and Indigenous Lead Teachers, the Indigenous Youth and Family Outreach Worker will promote a welcoming environment for First Nation Metis and Inuit students and their families with a particular focus on students who have relocated from northern communities.

**Location: North Region (North Bay and Area)**

**Qualifications**:

- Post Secondary Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Social Service Worker or a related field
- Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle

**Knowledge/Skills Required**:

- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, history and traditions
- Experience working with children, youth, families and community agencies
- Experience in supporting school engagement and student success
- Proven ability to act as a liaison between First Nation communities, community agencies, the home, schools and educators
- Experience working with adolescent youth with behavioural and or social/emotional issues
- Knowledge of Ojibwe/Cree language is preferred

**Duties**:

- Promote involvement of parents/guardians in the school system and assist the schools in developing parent engagement opportunities for these families
- Attend meetings at schools to support healthy transitions and cross-cultural understanding
- Connect families who have moved from other communities to local community resources
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, the Indigenous Education Lead, Mental Health Lead and community organizations
- Connect students to appropriate board resources
- Assist the students to eliminate barriers in the way of learning
- Other related duties as assigned

**Rate of Pay**: $55,447.00 to $68,558.00 annually
