AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
As part of the Child & Family Services Program team, the Program Support Worker’s primary responsibility is to assist with the effective and efficient administration and delivery of Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre Child & Youth Program activities and services. The Program Support Worker will assist with the provision of developmentally appropriate community support services to Indigenous children, youth, and families, as well as provide administrative support and other duties as required by the Executive Director / Director of Operations. This position will collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and coordinate services and support in consultation with individuals and partnering programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Preferred post-secondary diploma in Child & Youth, Early Childhood Education, or Social Services Service field and/or equivalent work experience.
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach; knowledge of an Indigenous language(s) will be considered an asset.
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with mínimal supervision in a team-oriented setting.
- Experience providing child and youth programming, services, and supervision.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent case and file management skills, stress management and time management skills.
- Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills; excellent interviewing and counselling skills.
- High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to problem solve and take initiative.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Clearance is a condition of employment.
