Burlington, Canada Reach Out Centre for Kids Full time

Reporting to the Manager of Specialized Consultation and Psychology Team Lead, Psychologists work collaboratively within their inter-professional team to identify the strengths as well as the social, emotional, relational, cognitive, psychological, and behavioral challenges that are impacting clients and their families. Psychologists provide direct support to clients including case conceptualization, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services. Psychologists also play an important role in providing supervision and training for staff and students.

Please note that this is a **permanent, part-time position working 28 hours weekly.**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Conduct psychological assessments/diagnoses and provide feedback on the results to parents, youth, school personnel, and other agencies.
- Provide treatment services to children and families using individual, group, and family modalities.
- Advocate and liaise with other professionals and programs within the community that are involved with the client to facilitate their functioning.
- Provide psychological consultation services to clients and their families, to other clinicians involved in client-care, and to schools and other agencies.
- Prepare designated cases for presentation at multidisciplinary case reviews.
- Provide a psychological perspective within the multidisciplinary team and be aware of the importance of contributions from other disciplines.
- Work within the multidisciplinary team to develop an integrated treatment plan to meet the needs of the client and the family.
- Assume case co-ordination responsibility for cases, as appropriate.
- Take responsibility for standards of practice for psychological assessments, diagnoses, and treatment.
- Provide direct supervision to psychometrists, psychologists under supervised practice, and M.A./Ph.D. students engaged in practicum placements/resident programs.
- Develop and conduct relevant workshops in co-operation with other staff for presentation to other agencies regarding the assessment and treatment of children. Be available to staff and other agencies as an educational resource.
- In coordination with the Program Evaluation & Research Coordinator, conduct program evaluation activities.
- Operationalize client safety through adhering to established policies and guidelines that ensure consistency in the delivery of quality and safe care, by identifying and reporting any client safety incidents.
- Abide by the specific requirements of Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as any further health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the agency policy and procedure documents.
- Other duties as may reasonably be assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education**:

- Ph.D., in Clinical Psychology from a recognized university.
- Active registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (authorized area of practice must include clinical with children and adolescents. Authorization to practice with families is considered an asset).

**Experience**:

- Three to five years of prior experience in psychological assessment and clinical treatment of children.

**Skills**:

- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relations and work in a team atmosphere.
- Maintain knowledge of current scientific and professional information and be able to critically examine relevant psychological literature and translate this knowledge into effective assessment and treatment.
- Strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
- Be able to build good rapport with clients and their families and provide excellent family-focused care.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Access to reliable transportation in alignment with program needs.
- Proficient in the use of technology as required of the position, including working in a virtual environment with MAC OS operating systems experience preferred.
- The ability to work evenings as required.
- Current (within three months) Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- The ability to speak any second language is highly valued.
