- Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.

You feel compelled to challenge traditional ways of thinking and are focused on always doing things better and helping those around you do the same. We count on you to shape the culture that helps our people thrive - all while navigating a constantly evolving environment. You find ways of connecting with your team, no matter where they work, and inspire them to do their best work.

**Job Summary**:

These stations serve their cities through six local web pages, five morning radio programs, two afternoon radio programs and one video news program.
- The Managing Editor is fully committed to reflecting the growing cultural diversity of the region and building meaningful relationships with new audiences in a range of communities.
- The Managing Editor will inspire, mentor, support and develop staff. This person will work with a team that focuses on service, strong communication, shared goals, accountability and results.
- The Managing Editor will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories and our programs are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, and intelligent.
- This leader is also the point person for matters outside of journalism, working with partners in other departments to address issues as they arise, including maintenance, security and technical issues. While not responsible for solving these problems, the leader helps ensure solutions are sought in a timely manner.
- Exceptional critical thinking skills.
- A compassionate and collaborative approach to leadership.
- An ability to connect easily with a wide range of personalities, perspectives and experiences.
- A strategic approach to daily journalism, against established goals and priorities.
- Confidence and experience with a variety of storytelling formats and platforms, including breaking news, features, investigative, as well as radio, video and digital platforms.
- Cultural sensitivity, awareness and a demonstrated commitment to the value of diversity in the workplace.
- A commitment to continuous learning.
- A sense of adventure and an eagerness to try new things.

Experience required:

- Minimum of 5 years' related leadership experience, including experience leading a newsroom.
- A track record of guiding complex journalistic decision making.
- An ongoing interest in and understanding of media trends.
- Proven ability to make decisions rapidly and frequently within tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to be clear, concise, and precise on journalistic and programming matters.
- Experience leading a news team during major breaking news events.
- Knowledge of the law as it relates to broadcasting and journalism.
- Experience hiring and supporting new staff in a journalism setting.
- Some experience working with video and/or audio storytelling is essential.
