**Schedule**: Monday - Friday, 8 am to 6 pm (occasional working on weekends might be required)

**Salary**: $56,050.00 - $59,000.00 per year

**Reports to**: Supervisor, YCafé Training Program

**Nature and Scope**:
The YCafe program at YMCA BC is a comprehensive 10-week training initiative designed to equip individuals with the skills needed for a successful career in the Food and Beverage industry. Participants receive hands-on experience in a real cafe setting, along with workshops and kitchen skills training. The program also offers a weekly living allowance, professional coaching, free certifications, and financial support for program participation and job start-up. Upon completion, participants have the opportunity to connect with employers looking to hire skilled workers.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Assists participants in assessing their job skills for employment positions
- Facilitates and develops in-classroom pre-employment, job search, career workshops and presentations
- Support multi-barriered youth with pre-employment supports such as housing, mental health, addictions, income supports, food security, hygiene & clothing and addressing other barriers to securing and sustaining employment
- Supervises and supports job placements for program participants in the Training YCafé
- Provides labour market and community resource information
- Monitors participant performance on the job and counsels participants when job performance is not satisfactory; works with participants to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills
- Tracks participant activity and progress data
- Initiates and maintains on-going contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement
- Locates jobs for participants who have successfully completed training programs
- Matches job skills with applicant qualifications
- Develops and executes creative outreach strategies to recruit program participants
- Travels across Vancouver and Lower Mainland for meetings

**Qualifications/Experience**:

- Post-Secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Experience working in the food service sector, ideally training and supporting entry level staff
- Established relationships within the local tourism and hospitality community and proven track record in job placement recruitment
- Experience with developing and facilitating community based programming and services
- Strong facilitation skills with proven experience leading pre-employment, job search, career information workshops and presentations to a youth audience
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in high demand environment
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer proficient - Microsoft Office (including Office 365, Word, and Excel)
- High degree of independence and initiative within a team environment
- Proven responsibility to coordinate tasks and work as part of a team
- CDP or related certification is an asset
- Emergency First Aid/CPR-C Certificate required, can be obtained within 30 days of start date
