**Schedule**: Monday - Sunday, 9 am to 5 pm (occasional evening shifts until 7 pm)

**Salary**: $59,000.00 per year

**Reports to**: Supervisor, YCafé Training Program

**Nature and Scope**:
The YCafe program at YMCA BC is a comprehensive 10-week training initiative designed to equip individuals with the skills needed for a successful career in the Food and Beverage industry. Participants receive hands-on experience in a real cafe setting, along with workshops and kitchen skills training. The program also offers a weekly living allowance, professional coaching, free certifications, and financial support for program participation and job start-up. Upon completion, participants have the opportunity to connect with employers looking to hire skilled workers.

Reporting to YAP’s Program Coordinator, the Access Worker provides a wide range of emotional and practical support for at risk youth attending YAP’s drop-in and facilitates access to the wider range of services within the YAP hub as indicated. The Access Worker aids YAP’s program coordinator identify, deliver, and measure programs and services that focus on empowering youth to make positive change. This position works from a mínimal barrier, harm reduction perspective to build relationship and rapport with, and help meet the needs of, at risk youth.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Assists participants in assessing their job skills for employment positions
- Facilitates and develops in-classroom pre-employment, job search, career workshops and presentations
- Support multi-barriered youth with pre-employment supports such as housing, mental health, addictions, income supports, food security, hygiene & clothing and addressing other barriers to securing and sustaining employment
- Supervises and supports job placements for program participants in the Training YCafé
- Provides labour market and community resource information
- Monitors participant performance on the job and counsels participants when job performance is not satisfactory; works with participants to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills
- Tracks participant activity and progress data
- Initiates and maintains on-going contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement
- Locates jobs for participants who have successfully completed training programs
- Matches job skills with applicant qualifications
- Develops and executes creative outreach strategies to recruit program participants
- Travels across Vancouver and Lower Mainland for meetings

**Qualifications/Experience**:

- Post-Secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Experience working in the food service sector, ideally training and supporting entry level staff
- Established relationships within the local tourism and hospitality community and proven track record in job placement recruitment
- Experience with developing and facilitating community based programming and services
- Strong facilitation skills with proven experience leading pre-employment, job search, career
