**Position Summary**
Racialized students face various institutional barriers throughout their student journey, and a coordinated systemic approach will be required to identify and dismantle these barriers. Introduced by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities in 2018, the Ontario Post-secondary Access and Inclusion Program (OPAIP) grant is intended to support projects and programming that will strengthen coordination, capacity, systems and tools for racialized students and create a better foundation for supporting racialized eligible students; Centennial College has received OPAIP to support transition and advising projects over three years.
Funded by the OPAIP grant and reporting to the Director, Student Community and Engagement (SCE), the Manager, Racialized Student Retention Programs will be responsible for coordination of project activities, including reporting, ensuring staff have appropriate training and capacity building, and contributing to committees and taskforces. Major projects that will be designed to provide enhanced supports and remove barriers include but are not limited to:
Creation of an Access, Retention and Persistence Advisory Committee (name and scope to be determined), which will offer guidance and direction to the initiative implementation team and advise on any adaptations during the course of the initiative to enhance/improve capacity to achieve deliverables.
Development of a staff capacity-building advising toolkit to support initial career conversations and career development for racialized students as they transition into college.
The Manager, Racialized Student Retention Programs is responsible for projects related to OPAIP grant funding through all phases including initiation, planning, execution and closing while holding accountability for accomplishing the project objectives and maintaining the progress, mutual interaction and tasks of various parties in such a way that reduces the risk of overall failure, maximizes benefits, and minimizes costs. The Manager will be facilitating all necessary consultations, determining priorities for implementation, negotiating alignment of processes, and establishing common policies and best practices to ensure achievement of strategic goals related to the assigned project The Manager will ensure that OPAIP projects (e.g., process and outcomes) are in alignment with the College's 3-year Strategy, the Student Experience and Success Divisional Strategic Plan, the College's Indigenous Strategic Framework, and the College's Anti-Black Racism Commitments.
**Responsibilities**
- Develop project scopes, charters, objectives and business cases, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring feasibility for all OPAIP funded projects
- Deliver on and track progress of project plan deliverables aside from the project charter can be depending on the project, such as change management plan, communication plan, project log, project schedule, project status reports, presentations, training plan, roll out plan, knowledge transfer plan, assessment
- Work with the SCE leadership team to prepare a comprehensive strategy, supporting documentation and implementation plan for OPAIP projects.
- Lead a team of support staff and student workers dedicated to implementing the OPAIP project, including hiring and onboarding employees.
- Design, develop and implement the assessment framework for OPAIP projects to determine if team is meeting project targets.
- Prepare and maintain College and funding reports on project activities.
