**Position Summary**
As part of the College’s commitment to Making a Bigger Promise to Students and providing students with the Map and the Compass, the Manager, Transitions and Student Life is responsible for creating a sense of belonging and preparing students for their Centennial journey through the design, development and delivery of intentional transition programs and co-curricular learning opportunities for all students across the College. This is accomplished through operational oversight of programs, services and partnerships that facilitate students’ personal, academic, professional, and social development as they transition in, through, and beyond the College.

As part of the Student Community and Engagement (SCE) leadership team and broader Student Experience and Success (SES) division, the Manager, Transitions and Student Life plays an important role in shaping student affairs and services strategies and operations for the College. Overseeing a team of student life professionals, the Manager holds accountability for the design, development and delivery of SCE’s virtual and in-person transition programming as well as events, activities, peer programming and other co-curricular learning programs. Given the learning-oriented nature of the role, the Manager, Transitions and Student Life must always ground operations in intentionally-derived and assessable learning and program outcomes. Further, the Manager, Transitions and Student Life will create a culture of connectedness between students, the institution and the broader community with an aim to enhance persistence and retention through building and sustaining collaboratiave partnerships. By leveraging these partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, the incumbent will work to develop a vibrant and seamless student experience.

The culture of belonging will also be infused into other aspects of the Manager’s portfolio, namely the frontline services where the Manager will play an integral role in ensuring that “no door is the wrong door” for learners. Here, the manager will oversee relational, empowering, seamless, holistic and learning-centred frontline service staff. As the Manager of the SCE frontline team, the incumbent will be accountable for creating a team that will serve as the common gateway to all SCE programs and services.

To deliver a seamless and integrated experience, the Manager, Transitions and Student Life works closely with the SCE leadership team and in coordination with the broader SES leadership team to deliver robust modular online and in-person transition programs to build students’ capacities around important topics (e.g., financial literacy, academic integrity, rights and responsibilities, resources and services, mental health, sexual violence, intercultural intelligence and inclusion), which spans from matriculation through to first semester. The orientation modules also serve as a foundation for the overall service delivery model as prerequisites to other service workshops and/or appointments. Transitions work also includes managing off-campus housing supports for students as well as programming, developed in collaboration with Career Services, to support students as they prepare for graduation and the job market.
