**Mission Statement**

Staff of the Regina Open Door Society (RODS) must operate at all times within the mandate of service to provide settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. RODS is committed to meeting the needs of newcomers by offering programs and services to enable them to achieve their goals and participate fully in the larger community.

**Position Summary**

This position is also responsible for supporting LINC learners and teachers while providing guidance and counselling support to LINC learners regarding solutions to barriers that can affect students' attendance and performance in class.

The position requires strong communication (oral and written), organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-cultural setting. Knowledge of local community resources is an asset.

**Requirements**:

- University degree in Education, Counselling, Social Work, or equivalent education and experience with one year of human service experience
- Experience in providing individual guidance counselling to adults
- Emotionally mature and capable of exercising sound judgment while maintaining strong boundaries
- Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Child Care Sector is an asset
- excellent negotiation, interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with staff, clients, and community childcare representatives
- Experience and sensitivity in working with newcomers to Canada, including those with limited English language skills
- Strong technological skills; proficient in using MS Office, Google Classroom, databases, and online communication platforms
- Proven accountability, resourcefulness, initiative, and professionalism
- Must be results-oriented, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Specific Competencies:

- Ability to assess clients' daycare needs and to refer them to appropriate daycare centres as well as to available community resources and agencies focusing on early childhood development, special needs, and parent supports on an as-needed basis

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Identify available community spaces and clients from the waitlist who could access those spaces, and conduct an assessment of any additional supports needed including transportation, interpretation, etc.
- Build relationships with community childcare centres to secure spaces for eligible RODS LINC clients.
- Initiate and maintain regular contact with families using RODS and community childcare spaces
- Provide ongoing support to both the child care centres and the newcomer parents
- Collaborate with childcare consultants and subsidy assessors to ensure best practices and services for LINC clients who need childcare
