Job Posting Description:
- Retail Operations Learning Manager
- The Retail Operations Learning Manager will be responsible for developing, prioritizing, and implementing the Retail Operations training strategy as it relates to the achievement of Divisional and Corporate KPIs, integrating core competencies and strategy blocks and divisional priorities. This role schedules and manages all Retail focused learning events within the Retail Master Calendar and oversees budget management for all training requirements in the Retail Store Network.

- Designs a Retail Operations training strategy & creates and manages the Retail training calendar:
- (20% of time allocated to this responsibility)
- Under the direction of the Chief Retail Officer, Vice President Retail Operations, and Senior Director Store Operations & Support and in collaboration with Talent Management, the incumbent designs a divisional operations training strategy that supports Retail Divisional as well as corporate learning objectives
- Uses adult learning principles to partner with Talent Management to determine the best methodology of learning (in-person learning, virtual learning, peer to peer learning, online/e-learning, blended learning etc.)
- Establishes a priority setting process that feeds into the creation and maintenance of the division’s Retail training calendar/schedule in support of divisional & corporate strategies/priorities
- Collaborates with Retail Senior Leadership on establishing Retail priorities
- Determines and communicates the key blackout periods during which all training is paused and ensures compliance to these periods
- Identifies and validates content for Retail’s Annual Learn Track, Summer & Winter Fixed Term Learn Tracks etc.
- Leads Retail training needs assessment:
- (15% of time allocated to this responsibility)
- Creates a comprehensive Retail Training Needs Assessment for all positions that fall under the Chief Retail Office, with a primary focus on Retail Store Teams followed by Retail Field Leadership Teams as well as Corporate Retail Teams, updated annually as new corporate & divisional goals are created/updated
- Outcome of training needs assessment will include a documented gap analysis of knowledge, skills and abilities of all Retail positions supporting both the daily operations’ educational needs and the achievement of corporate and divisional strategy blocks
- Ensures all employees are able to perform their duties and fulfill their responsibilities to the best of their abilities, while also providing a career path for advancement for those who are seeking growth with direct linkages to our corporate competencies and our employee value proposition
- Develops and maintains the Retail training matrix:
- (10% of time allocated to this responsibility)
- Leverages the position descriptions created for each Retail position, the incumbent will create and maintain the Retail training matrix, a tool used to track training and skills/qualifications for each classification within the Retail Division
- Recommends the delivery of new programs or changes to programs based on the changing workplace
- Leads all Retail Operations training projects on behalf of the division:
- (15% of time allocated to this responsibility)
- Ensures the creation of Project Charters and Project Plans are created and utilized for projects/programs
- Reviews and evaluates course materials for completeness, accuracy, and relevance
- Executes the training priorities
- Tracks training trends for industry and public sector
- Creates and manages the Retail Operations training budget & associated expenses:
- (15% of time allocated to this responsibility)
- Creates and oversees the Retail Operations training budget; as well as approve all training & related expenses for Retail front-line team members
- Oversees all financial reporting aspects of the budget including validating period expense variance reports and gross earnings reports
- Manages the oversight and compliance with corporate policies and directives as it relates to the approval of expenses related to Retail training including employee training time, sourcing, and booking of conference/training facilities, accommodations, coordinates travel, meals, training materials etc. and ensures all discrepancies are investigated and resolved in a timely fashion
- Owns the sourcing of training solutions and/or vendors as required
- Manages the Workday Learning Management System & reporting for Retail:
- (15% of time allocated to this responsibility)
- Responsible for the overall management of the Workday Learning Management System (LMS) for Retail
- Oversees the testing of learning campaigns in Sandbox program & troubleshoots to ensure programs launch successfully
