**Position Summary**:
Join our team as a Student Support and Intervention Specialist Reporting to the Senior Manager of Counselling, you'll play a vital role in strengthening community networks to support students facing personal and academic challenges. As a resource for faculty, staff, and counsellors, you'll respond swiftly to complex mental health issues, facilitating referrals and providing ongoing case management. Collaborating with students and stakeholders, you'll develop individualized case management plans using a solution-based and stepped-care approach, ensuring comprehensive student care.

**Responsibilities**:
**Case Management**
- Coordinates case management services for students, fostering collaboration with key departments like Counselling, Academic Area, and Student Conduct.
- Provides consultative advice on students in distress, conducting preliminary risk assessments, including suicide risk evaluation, and determining appropriate interventions or referrals.
- Assists front-line office staff with student inquiries, supports, and escalated situations.
- Cultivates positive relationships with campus resources and community health service providers.
- Applies expertise in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and relevant legislation, ensuring adherence to confidentiality standards and understanding the limits of confidentiality.

**Administration**
- Enters data into the data base (i.e. student withdrawals, referrals, etc.); photocopies and distributes to appropriate service areas such as Admissions and Financial Assistance Departments.
- Creates accurate and timely documentation and pull reports to provide statistical information when required.

**Communication**
- Represents Personal Counselling department at events and training, both virtual and in-person.
- Provides information and guidance to students, faculty, staff, and community agencies on ALS and Counselling services.
- Builds relationships with local community resources for student support.
- Addresses inquiries from Personal Counselling applicants and students, offering information and referrals.
- Performs other assigned duties

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- Minimum four (4) year Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counselling, Community Mental Health, Psychology.

**Experience**
- A minimum of three years of work in mental health programs. Specifically working with youth or young adults in community mental health settings or in educational settings.
- Experience working with computer software (e.g., MS office) and data management systems.
- Experience working in environment and directly supporting individuals with complex mental health needs.

**Skills**
- Ability to work with staff and students in a highly collaborative and innovative team-based environment.
- Initiative and good judgement and problem-solving skills to work in a fast-paced multicultural academic environment.
- Able to work independently and have good organizational skills.

**Note**:

- A skills assessment test will be administered during the recruitment process.

A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered as equivalent to the above requirements in the event that there are no internal applicants that meet the qualifications as posted. Equivalency will be assessed by the talent acquisition team.
