Côté Gold is being developed in partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.
The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.
**Accessing Opportunities at Côté Gold**
**MANAGER, MILL OPERATIONS**
Complete the operational readiness phase of the project including support the commissioning and ramp-up of the mill. To oversee the effective milling of ore and direct and manage all mill activities including planning, budgeting, staffing, cost containment, and profitability to attain commitments in production and productivity, and according to company objectives and policies. To analyze milling data and provide direction in the development of mill plans. To work with the senior management team in establishing the overall strategy for the mill.
**Key Responsibilities**
Area 1:
Ensure Operational Readiness tasks are completed prior to Commissioning.
- Track progress of all tasks related to the Operational Readiness for the mill operation and metallurgy. Report any potential issues and identify mitigation plans when required.
- Recruiting of mill operation, trainers and metallurgy team. Make sure all personnel receives adequate training.
- Prepare operating policies and procedures for the metallurgical laboratory including sampling, analysis, monthly mass balance, etc.
- Support the Commissioning contractor by providing technical guidance, reviewing documents and strategy as well as participating in risk reviews
Area 2:
To oversee and implement miill production programs and operations to mazimize production efficiency and resources.
- Develop an overall strategy for mill development and production based on input from other departments including targets, goals and priorities.
- Direct the execution and implementation of the mill plans and targets.
- Develop and direct the implementation of operational programs, processes and policies to meet organizational governance requirements and standards.
- Set mill production budget using information from the overall mine budget and business plan targets.
- Establish production targets, ensure mill throughput matches the mining plan and correct or address issues as they arise.
- Liaison with the Security Department to minimize security risks associated with precious metal processing
- Investigate options and recommend short and long term projects and approaches to enhance efficiency and cost effectiveness of mill operations.
- Stay abreast of mining laws and safety regulations, and issue directives to direct reports to ensure adherence to applicable rules and regulations.
Area 3:
Act as a member of the management team to establish the overall strategy for the process plant.
- Provide top-level support and advice to the management team.
- Liaise with the management team to set the direction and establish the mid
- to long-term operations and project development plans for the mill department.
- Provide advice to the management team regarding the development and implementation of the overall mine budget.
- Provide expert advice throughout the site on mill processes and practices.
- Identify options and implement actions to adopt best practices for mill production.
- Site on-duty management
**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves**
minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
- University degree in Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering or related degree.
- P.Eng certification in Ontario is an asset
Work experience - Nature & Length
- 10+ years in supervisory position preferably in mineral processing plants including gold
- Commissioning and ramp-up experience is an asset
Additional qualifications - Competency requirements
- Solid working knowledge of milling methods and procedures.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations for mines and milling plants in Ontario.
- Computer literate: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Oracle, MS Project are all assets
- Good understanding of process control systems would be an asset
- Experience managing mill water management as well as experience with Tailings Management Facility including operating good practices and Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) protocol
- A strong background in equipment repair and maintenance & maintenance management
