Côté Gold is being developed in partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.
The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.
**Accessing Opportunities at Côté Gold**
**Process Control Technician**
The Process Control Technician performs their duties as a member of the Côté Gold Mill Maintenance Engineering team, in close collaboration with other departments. The Process Control Technician will ensure safe, reliable, and effective operation and maintenance of Cote Gold’s process control system. They will assist in developing, calculating, designing, and scheduling process control system activities for Cote Gold. The Process Control Technician will participate in various mill projects and business improvement initiatives.
**Key Responsibilities**
Develop, implement, and improve the process control system
Area 1:
- Evaluate operating processes to identify areas for potential improvement and make recommendations for optimization.
- Work with control room operators, metallurgists, and instrumentation technicians to investigate and implement ways to improve operations.
- Modify control system logic to maintain existing functionality and develop new process control functionality.
- Modify control system interlocks, permissive’s, alarms, and operator displays for safe and optimized process control.
- Analyze and tune process control loops.
- Provide frontline control system support to maintenance, production, & engineering teams.
- Analyze process systems using current and historical data, to identify problems and opportunities.
- Assist in process modification projects in accordance with the change management procedures.
- Provide programming, configuration, and communication support for all Process Control System equipment.
- Provide support for the integration of external systems like packaged equipment PLC, MCC and VFD, including communication interface and I/O mapping.
- Provide support for Process Control System servers, network switches and firewalls configuration
- Assist field installation and provide start-up support including inspection of site assembly, general system checks and troubleshooting.
- Provide pre-commissioning and commissioning support.
Area 2:
Maintain process control system assets.
- Assist the IT/OT department in maintaining cyber security for Process Control system computers, switches and servers.
- Work directly with vendors and contractors to facilitate control system maintenance, hardware/software upgrades and expansions.
- Support reliability engineering, maintenance, and asset management best practices.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities, audits, and patches to maintain the integrity of the process control system hardware and software components.
- Maintain the safety, security, and integrity of process control systems from physical & cyber intrusion
Area 3:
Work with others in a collaborative environment to deliver innovative continuous improvement opportunities.
- Seek and implement best-in-class practices.
- Propose new methods to meet challenges of process control.
- Keep abreast of trends in process control and impart to Cote Gold.
- Continuously seek to improve technical knowledge and skills.
- Conduct research and benchmarking to support decision-making and improve milling processes, technologies and methodologies used for the processing plant.
**Safety & Sustainability Expectations**
Directly accountable for the health and safety of yourself, your department and local communities. Directly accountable for ensuring IOC activities are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner. Demonstrate visible leadership on Health, Safety and Environmental performance at all times if in production environments. Be alert and observe, correct and report unsafe conditions. Develop, train and ensure all staff follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements. Ensure that work areas are in compliance with all of IAMGOLD’s Health and Safety policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Acts in the applicable jurisdiction. Intervene as necessary, to ensure the safety of others in the workplace.
