**About the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (MAG)**
The MAG was established in 1973 as a legacy collection of Red Deer and Central Alberta history and art. Today, through objects and artworks that focus on the traditional culture of our lands and the evolution of the City of Red Deer and surrounds, it continues to play a major role in connecting people to the region and in preserving our history.

**We’re hiring a Public Programs Manager (PPM) **who will be responsible for ensuring the Museum operates in alignment with professional museums standards of practice and maintaining a healthy mix of art and history-based programming that is cost-recoverable yet accessible. The PPM will establish and implement policies and practices that facilitate the development of public programming, design and curate individual programs, manage public programming staff and budgets, all while placing priority on building collaborative partnerships. This role acts as an organizational hub that coordinates activities across the exhibition, art, history, and community event programs to ensure our public programming is cohesive and compelling. In the shorter term, a central part of the PPM’s work will be to leverage community consultation efforts to research, create data, analyze and make recommendations around gaps in programming, community needs and program scheduling. Overall, the PPM’s goal is to create an arc of inclusive programming that inspires people to connect with our areas of expertise and find new meaning in the region that we maintain a representative collection for.
- holds a Master’s in history, fine art, education or some combination of or equivalency to;
- has 3-5 years of experience in a management role;
- adeptly nurtures and maintains good working relationships with people of all ages, from all walks of life;
- comes with significant program development experience and is a highly skilled facilitator;
- loves, loves, loves planning and proactivity;
- can be simultaneously highly organized and creative;
- can write a variety of reports, presenting simple to complex information, in words, diagrams and formats that are accessible;
- embraces continuous quality improvement;
- readily uses humour as a coping mechanism.
This out-of-scope position is full-time (primarily Monday - Friday, occasional evenings or weekends as needed), onsite, with a salary of $60,000/year to start. We offer access to comprehensive health insurance benefits and an above-average group RRSP package.
