**Position Title**: Assistant Category Manager - Wellness

**Job Purpose**: The Assistant Category Manager - Wellness is responsible for providing support to the Category Manager - Wellness. The Assistant Category Manager - Wellness will assist with purchasing, inventory management, and database management. The Assistant Category

Manager - Wellness will also provide in-store support with training, merchandising, and in-store

Wellness department schedule coverage.

**Reports to**: Category Manager - Wellness

**Time Requirements**:

- Full-Time Hourly position, up to 40 hrs/week. Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends
- Employee is entitled to a 30 minute unpaid meal break for all shifts longer than 5 consecutive hours
- Position may require regular travel within the City of Calgary, and occasional travel within Alberta and across Canada.

**Duties**:
**Category Manager - Wellness Support**
- Participate in regular Category Manager - Wellness and Wellness Buyer Meetings
- Support with merchandising projects
- Attend store walkthroughs as needed
- Attend vendor meetings as needed
- Assist with promotional buy-ins

**Database Management & Inventory control**
- Assist with new product listings
- Run sales analysis reporting for Supplement and Personal Care Departments
- Promotion program management including tracking profitability
- Assist with inventory management programs including slow sellers, overstock items, and inter-store transfer process
- Assist in Out Of Stock Report Management
- Manage wholesale cost updates and assist with overall departmental pricing strategy
- Conduct regular database maintenance procedures

**Marketing**
- Assist in Wellness Category related in-store marketing projects. i.e. - signage, endcap displays
- Assist with monthly online promotions including blogs and social media platforms content
- Manage in-store promotional endcap communication

**Leadership**
- Coach, mentor, and manage the culture of the Wellness team to align with Amaranth’s mission and values
- Lead by example in daily activities
- Coach and mentor Wellness Department in-store team members

**In-Store Support**
- Provide in-store support on sale days including Customer Appreciation Days and Taste the Savings
- In-store support for sickness coverage, time -off requests or Wellness team vacancies
- In-store support during busy delivery or customer periods
- Training support for new Wellness team members
- Assist with merchandising projects as needed

**Qualifications and Attributes**:

- In-depth knowledge of natural supplements, personal care, organic foods, and other industry related products
- Previous wellness purchasing experience
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Good business acumen and strong quantitative analysis skills
- Willingness to work as part of a team
- High attention to detail
- Working knowledge of MS Office and Gmail and the ability to learn new software
- Experience working in database and inventory systems
- Ability to work in an unstructured and dynamic environment with a flexible attitude
- Ability to think independently, take initiative, prioritize, and complete projects in a timely manner
- A background in small business cash flow management including optimizing gross margin, and inventory values

**Basic Physical Requirements**
- Sit for extended periods of time. Walk, bend and twist body, reach above and below shoulders
- Repetitive use of hands for sorting papers, filing, and typing
- Regular use of computers, keyboards, mouse, filing cabinets, fax and printers
- Use ladders of varying heights up to 12 feet
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs maximum
