**Position Overview**:
The Sanitation Coordinator, under the direction of the Sanitation Manager, is responsible for providing the day-to-day supervision, oversite and direction of Sanitation Operations. The position is also required to ensure regulatory compliance with the Landfill’s Permit to Operate a Waste Disposal Ground. The Sanitation Coordinator is required to supervise Sanitation staff and to direct and ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Landfill and waste collection operations. This position is responsible for staff scheduling, maintaining inventory and ordering operating supplies for the Sanitation operation. This position will assist with budget preparations, project management, work safety, operating records and data management, maintenance planning and stakeholder consultations. The position will also be designated as back up for the Sanitation Manager.

**Principle Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Provide supervision of employees on a day-to-day basis.
- Staff scheduling, planning and oversite to ensure proper operation of waste collection activities and landfill operations.
- Provide direction to staff regarding operating procedures, plans and permits.
- Orientate and train new staff on operating plans and procedures, including the operation of trucks and heavy equipment.
- Ensure operational records and databases are maintained and meet regulatory requirements.
- Provide operational coverage when required for collection and landfill operations.
- Inventory, order and manage operational supplies.
- Ensure compliance with Acts, Regulations, Bylaws, Agreements, policies and procedures for Sanitation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory inspections requirements according to the Permit to Operate a Waste Disposal Grounds.
- Responsible for maintaining a high level of safety and communication with all staff working under their supervision.
- Ensure verification of timecard accuracy.
- Monitor attendance of Sanitation employees
- Monitor fleet inspections and maintenance
- Work with the Sanitation Manager to organize maintenance functions and priorities for the facility.
- Assist manager in the creation and monitoring of budgets.
- Act as the Sanitation Manager in their absence.
- Work with the manager to review and enhance efficiency of operations (e.g. collection routes)
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Required Qualifications**:
Successful completion of a diploma in a related environmental or engineering field supplemented with specific solid waste management courses or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possess a current class 5 driver’s license.
- Equipment Operator experience (front end loader, compactor, waste collection trucks).
- Minimum three (3) years of Supervisory experience.
