The Research Assistant (RA) will be a member of the Multiple Sclerosis research team. The main role of the RA will be to assist the Research Coordinators with investigator-initiated research. Responsibilities of this position include: ethics/CTO submissions, source document creation, data entry, biological sample processing and shipping, research appointment scheduling and visit preparation, safety reporting, research equipment/supplies management and assist in conduct of research visits and other study specific responsibilities as delegated.

**Rate of pay**: To commensurate with experience

**Hours of work**: 37.5 hours per week

**Duration**:12 months, with potential for renewal

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion a Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Health Sciences or related field of study, proven experience in the field regardless of a degree will also be considered
- One year of experience in clinical research
- Certification of GCP, TCPS2, and Health Canada Division 5 Training, IATA-TDG, Lawson Clinical Research SOPs
- Experience in the administration of neuropsychological testing, or a background in psychology a significant asset
- Experience with ethics submissions and working with UWO REB (WREM) and CRIC (ReDa, LORA)
- Experience with patient care systems (such as Cerner and Powerchart)
- Experience with CTAs and investigator-initiated research
- Experience processing and shipping biological samples (exempt / dry ice)
- Experience with Cerner, PowerChart, SPSS & RedCAP software programs an asset
- Ability to interact with patients with a neurological disorder (MS) and perform all study related procedures for various protocols
- Reliable, organized, capable of multi-tasking and able to collaborate and take responsibility in meeting deadlines
- Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and as part of a research team
- Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with a high level of initiative and motivation
- Ability to perform Phlebotomy and ECG an asset
- Ability to manage numerous clinical trials simultaneously with a high degree of conscientiousness and initiative
- Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft programs such as Excel and Outlook etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
