**What responsibilities will you have in this role?**

Reporting to the to the Chair of the School of Social and Community Services and School of Deaf and Deafblind Studies, the Manager, Academic Operations and Field Education manages and oversees ongoing administrative processes, supervises support staff team, manages the processes including business plan and budgeting, and tracks financial activities of the Centre’s special projects. The incumbent is responsible for providing operational leadership to support staff in Community Services and Deaf and Deafblind Studies, provides support and direction to various stakeholders regarding coordination of academic, operational, and student related issues such as student advising, student recruitment, and development of effective program database and timetables. The Manager, Academic Operations and Field Education collaborates with other Centres (Health Sciences, Early Childhood) to lead the divisional budget development process encompassing enrolment and business planning. The incumbent provides leadership to enhance field education policies, procedures and experiences for student and industry partners including planning events and cultivating new partnerships.
- Oversees all budgetary related processes including planning, allocating, analysing, approving, transferring, invoicing, as well as dealing with issues pertaining to part time faculty contracts.
- Responsible for monitoring budget efficiencies and analysing of the budget and to alert Chair to any budget issues.
- Works with the Chair, Office of the Dean, Operations Managers in Community Services and Health Sciences and college finance team to develop an approved divisional budget adhering to established fiscal frameworks in concert with enrolment targets.
- Works collaboratively with the Academic Chair to establish work plans and timelines for effective and efficient departmental operations.
- Manages and resolves issues associated with student recruitment and enrolment, admissions, registration, orientation, financial aid, and graduation.
- Supervise staff responsible for effective operations of the Student Advising functions.
- Develops processes to support collection and maintenance of program and student specific information.
- Manages special projects and contract services with external partnerships from the initial phase to implementation in collaboration with the Academic Chair and other College stakeholders.
- Oversees systems and processes related to space, finances, services and records management and implement necessary changes.
- Works collaboratively with the Chair in preparation of documents such as quarterly reports, proposals, business cases, etc.
- Liaises with the Dean’s Office on fiscal matters, as well as providing fiscal reports to Office of the Dean.
- Directs and manages the delivery of field education office activities including student placement support and community partnerships.
- Leads developments of policies and practices to enhance field experiences for students and community partners.
- Fosters community partnerships and develops and manages complex stakeholder relationships.
- Acts as an ambassador at external industry events and conducts field visits to enhance the student experience and strategic positioning with industry partners.
- Liaises with Marketing in developing and executing Field Education materials and approving the final products while ensuring accuracy for the promotion of Field Education.
- Represents the Schools in the College Work Integrated Learning management team and shares new policies and guidelines with the academic programs and Field Placement Coordinators. Manages and leads the Academic Operations team, Field Placement Coordinators and Partnership and Engagement Assistant to ensure that faculty, students, and community organizations receive the highest quality and responsive services.
- Hires, trains, coaches and mentors staff to plan for career pathways and implement strategies to enhance staff satisfaction, engagement and professional development.
