**We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team**:
**Student Support Coordinator(s)**
- 100% Regular, 2 positions available

Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week
- Level 8, ESP: $54,574 to $70,594
- Effective: September 1, 2023

Reporting to the Principal and Superintendent of Equity and Anti-Oppression, the Student Support Coordinator will work in schools to support students who are racialized and minoritized by acting as a mentor and advisor; collaborating with school-based, other staff and the broader community to address individual and systemic barriers (e.g. academic, mental health, justice, cultural knowledge); identifying and addressing individual barriers to engagement, learning and well-being; leading student learning and staff professional development; facilitating access and referrals to academic supports and community resources to provide an integrated support system for students and support the holistic well-being of children/youth.

As a member of the equity team, the primary objectives of this position are to:

- Support the holistic wellbeing of students who are racialized and minoritized- Further develop a strong, respectful working relationship with local racialized and minoritized communities and organizations- Build knowledge of the diversity to be found within racialized and minoritized communities
- Build capacity, create structures to support learning needs and stated aspirations of students who are racialized and minoritized

**Qualifications**
- A combination of education (Social Work, Child and Youth Work, Counselling), professional and/or personal experience in community connections, decolonization and/or in addressing systemic barriers will also be equitably considered;- Experience rooted in local racialized and minoritized communities;-
- Lived experience as a racialized or minoritized person and lived experience with systemic oppression would be an asset.-
- The position requires an understanding of the lived experiences of the rich diversity of students who are racialized and minoritized;-
- Knowledge of racialized and minoritized perspectives, values, and history, and has deep connections to the local community;-
- Ability to identify systemic barriers and appropriate intervention points;-
- Awareness of local community resources and the ability to support students and their families in accessing and navigating these resources;-
- Ability to be a mentor and advisor;-
- Understanding of the intersections of race, gender, gender identity, faith, socio-economic dynamics and sexual orientation;-
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and problem-solving, sound judgment and sensitivity, broad understanding of and an inclusive approach to relationship building;-
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with various stakeholders;-
- Experience handling contentious issues with sensitivity, confidentiality, tact and discretion;-
- Demonstrated commitment to working with and supporting youth who are racialized and minoritized;- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a large caseload, prioritize and organize work effectively, and maintain detailed records;
- Experience collaborating with others to cobuild student learning experiences and staff professional development.
