Finance Assistant

Reporting to the Controller this casual position is a challenging role responsible for aiding other members in the Finance Department while the ERP implementation is in progress.
**Primary responsibilities include**:
- Cover front counter enquiries and phones when needed.
- Supporting the finance team with financial analysis, billing, financial reconciliations, financial reporting, journal entries, processing payables and other duties as needed within the AP, AR, taxes, utilities and payroll functions.
- Assist with basic filing, basic information lookup, and temporary substitute for staff on vacation or when they are involved in the implementation.
- Assist in office duties, office correspondence, reports, permits, minutes, etc.
- Support with the budget and annual audit process.
- Prepare ad hoc reports for management as needed.
**Requirements**:
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience in Accounting.
- Experience in a municipal government setting considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), experience with Serenic considered an asset.
- Experience or knowledge of payroll processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while working with considerable independence and resourcefulness.
- Confidence in practical, fair, and objective decision making.
- Excellent analytical abilities with a high degree of attention to detail along with high level of internal and external customer service.
- Good interpersonal skills in working with co-workers and the public.
