We are currently looking for a SUSHI CHEF to join our dynamic team at COAST Restaurant on Alberni Street. CATCH. COOK. EAT. A true west coast dining experience. We are looking for a talented and creative SUSHI CHEF who is dedicated to the art of sushi preparation and presentation. As a key member of our kitchen team, the Sushi Chef will be responsible for crafting high-quality sushi dishes, maintaining the highest food safety and quality standards, and ensuring an extraordinary dining experience for our guests.
**Responsibilities**:
**Sushi Preparation**: Expertly prepare a wide variety of sushi and sashimi dishes, including but not limited to nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and specialty rolls.
**Quality Control**: Ensure all sushi dishes are prepared with precision, adhering to our quality and presentation standards.
**Ingredient Management**: Manage the inventory of sushi ingredients, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste.
**Collaboration**: Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of orders.
**Cleanliness and Sanitation**: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following all health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling and storage.
**Menu Development**: Contribute to the development of new and innovative sushi dishes, as well as seasonal specials.
**Customer Interaction**: Engage with customers at the sushi bar, answer questions, and provide an interactive and enjoyable dining experience.
**Requirements**:
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef in a high-quality restaurant setting.
Proficiency in traditional and contemporary sushi preparation techniques.
Strong knowledge of Japanese fish preparation, varietals, and ingredients.
Strong attention to detail and presentation.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to food safety and sanitation practices.
Creativity and a passion for culinary excellence.
Able to take direction and formulate menu development, recipe costing, and training.
