**Number of Positions**:1 Project Coordinator
**Position Status**: Full-time, 35 hours per week, one year contract (renewable).
**Salary**:$4,200 monthly ($50,400 annually), plus benefits (CPP, EI and 4% vacation pay)
**Location**:The Project Coordinator is expected to be able to work from the Dalhousie Transportation Collaboratory (DalTRAC) located at 1360 Barrington Street, room B105, Halifax, NS B3H 4R2 or at 5217 Morris Street, room 505, Halifax, NS B3J 1B6.

**Overview of DalTRAC**:
Dalhousie Transportation Collaboratory (DalTRAC) is a multi-disciplinary research facility dedicated to the advancement of transportation engineering/planning research and practice at Dalhousie University. The unit aims to contribute to transportation studies, planning, and analysis at local, regional, and national levels.

**Position Description**:
The Project Coordinator position involves collaboration with team members and stakeholders in the participation, organization, and promotion of highly knowledge-intensive transportation planning research activities to help achieve project goals. Duties to be performed by the Project Coordinator will include but are not limited to:

- Research Coordination (40%):
Coordinates and implements DalTRAC’s projects, including the Climate Action and Awareness Fund (CAAF) project.
- Coordinates DalTRAC’s day-to-day operations, project planning, and delivery.
- Plans and administers travel surveys in multiple cities.
- Coordinates applied transportation research projects and manages automated data collection in collaboration with partners and researchers.
- Coordinates research proposal development activities.
- Assists in the creation of research documents including abstracts, manuscripts, reports, and presentations.

Administration (40%):

- Assists the Principal Investigator in scheduling meetings, managing graduate students, and maintaining relationships with partners.
- Assists DalTRAC research affiliates, speakers, and partners in relation to project goals and objectives.
- Collaborates with full-time graduate students in writing and editing manuscripts for scholarly publications in journals and conference proceedings (e.g., TRB Annual Meeting).
- Provides administrative support to ensure smooth operation of the lab.
- Schedules and provides support for meetings including note taking, preparing agendas, minutes, and follow-up.
- Office management including purchase of supplies and equipment.
- Coordinates and oversees any special projects as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Finance and Budgeting (20%):

- In consultation with the Principal Investigator, prepares budgets and spending plans in accordance with Dalhousie policies.
- Maintains financial reports, budgets, and deliverables for DalTRAC projects.
- Supports the Principal Investigator in compiling the operational budget and in the submission of annual and final reports to granting agencies.
- Assists in the preparation of annual budgets.
- Tracks spending on operational and research budgets.
- Coordinates payroll, travel claims, and project expenses for smooth operation of DalTRAC.

**Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate or graduate degree in urban planning, public administration, environmental science, management, or related program from an accredited university.
- One to three years of relevant experience, preferably in project coordination.
- Passion for transportation, urban planning, and related research.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including effective verbal/written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and partnerships.
- Strong ability to work independently to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office products.
- Sound behavioral competencies including teamwork and cooperation, innovation, leadership, communication, impact and influence, and valuing diversity.

**Assets**:

- Financial management experience.
- Experience in an academic environment.
