Driver Records Clerk

Overview:
As the Driver Records Clerk, you will be responsible for providing customer service for incoming enquiries related to licensing programs. You will respond to and provide detailed information regarding driver records, consequences of violations, and reinstatements in accordance with policy and legislation. You will also be responsible for processing personal and commercial driver abstracts.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responds to a large variety of external enquiries regarding:
- Driver record and driver abstract information including the projection of future consequences of convictions under the Highway Traffic Act, Drivers and Vehicles Act, Summary Convictions Act, and the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Suspensions, prohibitions, cancellations, impoundments of vehicles, licence suspension appeal process, and driver safety rating (DSR) information.
- Eligibility for reinstatement of driver’s licenses and confirmation of licence status for out of province licensing authorities.
- Other related programs, Ignition Interlock Program, Graduated Driver Licensing Program, Addictions Foundation of Manitoba, Licence Suspension Appeal Board, Maintenance Enforcement Program and Vehicle Impoundment Program.
- Processes high volume Driver Abstract and Commercial Driver Abstract requests within challenging deadlines from the general public, companies and agencies via mail and facsimile.
- Upon request, in accordance with Licensing Services release of information policy and in conjunction with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act_, _provides copies of suspension notices and other releasable documents.
- Verifies proper authorization, payments submissions, and balances processed transactions.
- Provides assistance, direction and approval on departmental procedures.
- Confirms the status of a driver’s licence for a date of loss for MPI adjusters.
- Verifies documents such as receipts, declarations, and affidavits as needed to complete transactions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years office experience, including one year providing customer service in a driver licensing environment.
