**Responsibilities**:

- Reporting to the Head of Canadian Equities, the Equity Research Analyst will be an integral part of a closely knit team of investment professionals responsible for managing long only fundamental Canadian equity mandates.
- The primary objective of the role is to support the investment decision making process via insights and investment recommendations. The analyst will be tasked to develop a comprehensive understanding of multiple companies in various industries and investor perceptions of them.
- Research responsibilities include thorough industry and company analysis via broad reading, management meetings, analyst/expert calls, conferences, interaction with other investment professionals and financial modeling. Findings and investment conclusions will be presented to the investment team via written reports, presentations, weekly updates and ad-hoc commentary.
- The analyst will also be required to support the platform and distribution channel for business development purposes as needed.
Requirements
- 3-9 years of experience conducting fundamental equity research analysis, in either a buy-side or sell-side setting
- Masters or undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and/or a CFA charterholder; absent the relevant education, a demonstrated understanding of business/economic principles, statistics and securities analysis via relevant work experience and personal interests
- A reputation of hard work, reliability, congeniality and integrity
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration, maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders and relay thoughts to a variety of audiences
- Exceptional ability to absorb information and creatively distil it to core principles
- Ability to work independently and within a team setting
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential. Python and other coding experience a valuable asset
