Job Summary

**A Brief Overview**
The Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre (FDISC) exists to enhance the development and well-being of the Queen's University Indigenous Community. The Centre serves as a hub for the University's implementation of Indigenous priorities, encouraging university stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff and senior administrators, to develop an awareness and appreciation of the Indigenous experience in Canada. In keeping with the teachings of the Four Directions, the Centre supports individual Indigenous students in balancing their academic, spiritual, physical and emotional needs.

Reporting to the Director, Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre, the Indigenous Events & Programs Assistant is responsible for facilitating the organization of various programs, events, and projects of FDISC. The incumbent must have Indigenous ancestry and demonstrated connection with an Indigenous community and other Indigenous networks.

This position provides event administration support including logistics, drafting layouts, proposing event sequences, coordinating set up and tear down details, speaking notes, and coordinating access for service providers. This position develops and updates communications and marketing material for events, and distributes and shares event details. This position updates and maintains websites and social media pages. This position also provides guidance and coordinates workflow of casuals and/or student staff.

**What you will do**
- Provides event administration support including logistics, drafting layouts, proposing event sequences, coordinating set up and tear down details, speaking notes, and coordinating access for service providers.
- Develops and updates communications and marketing material for events.
- Distributes and shares event details.
- Prepares reports using analytics to assess audience engagement.
- Prepares, maintains, updates and distributes the weekly newsletter.
- Updates and maintains websites and social media pages.
- Provides guidance and coordinates workflow of casuals and/or student staff.
- Liaises with Indigenous students, staff, and faculty to create and execute culturally relevant and holistic programming.
- Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

**Required Education**
- Two-Year Community College Diploma.

**Required Experience**
- More than 2 years and up to and including 3 years of experience.
- Experience working with Indigenous groups considered an asset.

**Required Licenses and Certifications**
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.
- Vulnerable Sector Screening required.

Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
