As the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Real Estate and Construction you will head and act as a changemaker in reshaping our real estate and construction strategies across the enterprise to deliver optimal customer experience and business value aligned to the evolution of clients’ needs, workforce models, and workplace strategies. Utilizing business acumen, the AVP, Real Estate and Construction champions a broad breadth and depth of initiatives and guides business case development and deliverables for right-sizing activities nationally for moves, consolidations, downsizing and related construction.

**How you will create impact**:

- Leading, evolving and refining the development and implementation of corporate real estate and construction strategies; designing optimized and fit-for-purpose plans and road maps for Corporate, Claims, Call Centre and Advisor locations across Canada aligned to business strategy.
- Sourcing real estate solutions for optimum space performance to support overall staff productivity in office while assessing considerations for geography, sustainability, inclusion, wellness, transit, and cost.
- Identifying, planning, and engaging in complex negotiations with building proprietors/landlords nationally on upcoming lease renewals, expiries or new premises.
- Building business cases and delivering on-time projects for moves, renovations, consolidations, and decommissions. Including the creation of construction budgets through competitive bidding processes aligned to policies.
- Developing and defining construction standards, schedules, and processes.
- Proactively identify and manage construction challenges and opportunities and leveraging real estate strategies to support both short as well as long-term business requirements.
- Consulting as a trusted advisor and collaboratively providing senior-level guidance to stakeholders, Real Estate Steering Committee (CMG), and external partners on matters related to corporate real estate and construction.
- Leading and engaging your team to deliver strategic objectives through effective coaching and mentoring, identifying and developing emerging talent, and fostering an innovative, collaborative, and agile culture.

**To join our team**:

- You have 10 years of progressive combined experience in Commercial Real Estate Management and Commercial Construction Services including involvement in contributing to the development and execution of related strategies.
- You have a degree or diploma Business Administration, Construction Engineering, Commercial Real Estate or similarly related study. Working towards or having completed urban development/geography/land use planning studies is an asset.
- Working towards or having completed a certificate/certification in Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Certified Construction Management (CCM), Construction Project Management Certificate, Construction Management Association (CMA) is an asset.
- You have working knowledge of real estate and construction best practices and requirements.
- You have strong skills in building relations and negotiation with building proprietors/landlords; having experience partnering with building proprietors/landlords for both corporate and retail space locations is an asset.
