Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Outreach & Support Worker is responsible for outreach and events for the Halifax location. This includes planning and implementing external regional outreach and fundraising activities and ensuring visibility with donors and community partners.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT**

**OUTREACH & EVENTS**
- Create and plan community outreach strategy alongside other regional managers
- Establish partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and agencies
- Organize and facilitate events to engage the local community members and stakeholders
- Maintain current knowledge of issues and resources related to abuse and violence to educate and create awareness about our service offerings
- Facilitate and take part in community networking, round tables, and workshops to ensure regional presence of Nisa Homes brand in collaboration with the Marketing department
- Collaborate and communicate with other programs and external partners of the organization to maintain a database of local resources and services
- Set and meet organizational KPIs for monthly events, collaboration, and meetings with partners
- Facilitate and participate in community networking and committees
- Assist in securing monetary and in-kind donations and fundraising

**COMMUNITY & VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT**
- Regularly work and meet with Ummah Masjid and the Atlantic Muslim Resource Centre team
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with key community partners to initiate advocacy, education, referral, collaboration, and funding opportunities
- Recruit, train, engage and retain volunteers for events, seminars, fundraising or regional activities

**FACILITY MAINTENANCE**
- Ensure maintenance of the house including regular grocery pickups, community donations, and storage organization.
- Conduct regular upkeep audits of the house to ensure it is in good standing.
- Coordinate with contractors as needed for facility maintenance including but not limited to lawn care, fixes around the house, cleaners, utilities etc.
- Regularly conduct room checks in coordination with the case manager.
- Support with client move-ins and move-outs, including support finding furniture, movers, and setting up the spaces.
- Maintain an updated track of expenditures, inventory of groceries and household items, inventory of donations, etc.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES**
- A combination of relevant training, education (social services for example) and experience.
- Clear Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance
- Access to a reliable vehicle is necessary
- Ability to work individually and as a team member
- Understanding the cycle of abuse, the misuse and abuse of power and control
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds
- Knowledge of social issues which affect women
- Understand and respect the importance of confidentiality
- Knowledge of community resources
